[Cartethyia Cosplay] That Sword in Wuthering Waves, Moving According to My Will

"This sword will move according to your will." Corresponding to this role-playing experience, I find it highly fitting. As early as when this character's official art was first announced, I was deeply drawn to her appearance design and that unique elf temperament. What completely won me over was that incredibly cool single-handed rescue scene in the recent story. That sudden explosive power, combined with the character's own setting, directly made me decide that I must replicate this charm in the real world.

This time I cosplayed Little Cartethyia, which is what everyone commonly calls "Little Ka." The design of the entire costume is truly exquisite. To restore that lightweight feel accompanied by water element and elf characteristics, I chose dark green, pure white, and sea blue patchworks for the primary colors of the outfit. The fabric selected was very light and thin with a certain sense of transparency. Especially those ribbons and the long tail train behind; once put on, they look exceptionally flowing in the gentle breeze. For the wig part, light-golden high-temperature fibers were used. It not only underwent extensive braiding but was also specially trimmed into layers to simulate an airy feel when the wind blows. Combined with the customized elf ears props and blue bird-and-branch hair accessories, the entire styling was actually quite visually challenging because the combination of motion and stillness across all materials must be natural.

For this shoot, I specially chose a coastal outdoor photography scene. The wind by the sea was very strong, but at the same time, it served as the best natural filter. During the shoot, to restore that agile yet combat-ready side of the character, I also brought along her signature staff and long sword props. Especially when wielding that translucent blue long sword, combined with the mottled light and shadow of the sandy forest and the seaside sunlight, the entire person seemed to truly possess that sense of belief in protection or combat. Particularly for those few shots standing in the sea water, with the water covering my ankles and a natural reflection cast upon the sea surface, combined with the outfit's ribbons flying up as they were blown by the waves and sea breeze, at that exact moment, I truly felt a wonderful resonance with the character herself. The shadow cast by the elf ears under the sidelight also made the facial contours look more three-dimensional.

However, this costume did encounter some obstacles during the seaside outdoor photography shoot. Because there are many lace-up and backless designs, although visually very cool and breathable, standing in the sea breeze for a long time still caused a bit of hypothermia. Moreover, to keep the costume's drape and those blue-and-white intersecting layers from becoming messy, the clothing had to be rearranged after shooting every single scene. But seeing the images presented in the lens carrying that original-art-like texture, all the hard work felt completely worthwhile.

Although this set of photos for Little Cartethyia is finally completed, I am already looking forward to the future Big Cartethyia version. A completely different aura and styling will surely bring a distinct surprise. Furthermore, Senior Sister Qingxiao is also calling me from afar. The coolness and power presented by that character are also the directions I want to challenge next. I feel that every time I recreate a character, it is not just about putting on the clothes and wearing a wig, but more about understanding her will and belief in that world. The world view of Wuthering Waves is magnificent, and every character possesses a unique charm. This Little Cartethyia cosplay is just the beginning of my exploration of this world. I hope that through these photos, everyone can see the her that I understand.
