Bringing this Cartethyia cosplay to life demanded considerable dedication from initial concept design to final delivery. The costume adheres to an iconic palette of black, white, and azure; to capture that airy yet enigmatic high-fantasy essence, we combined translucent gossamer panels with shimmering silver satin. Layered over a form-fitting black base garment, the silver fabric is adorned with gold filigree motifs, while a black choker and sculpted white thorn wraps encircling the forearms and ankles markedly elevate the character's layered complexity.
Regarding props, the custom greatsword was our foremost priority. The blue-and-gold hilt required meticulous layered carving, while the blade itself was cast in semi-translucent material that catches ambient lighting with an ethereal, luminous gleam. To accentuate her elven traits, the elongated pointed ear cuffs and petite blue horn hairpins underwent multiple adjustments to align seamlessly with her canon demeanor. Her flowing white hair and braided crown also required continuous styling maintenance between takes to preserve structured, airy volume.
We staged the shoot in an interior set featuring Gothic stone archways and vibrant cyan backlighting, floored with deep-navy patterned carpeting beside classical white marble statuary—an ambiance that mirrors the lore and world-building of Wuthering Waves. To convey the garment's tactile quality alongside the character's commanding presence, our posing leaned into the kinetic tension of wielding the greatsword. The first composition utilizes a formal kneeling posture with both hands steadying the upright blade, highlighting frontal tailoring details and anchored balance. The second setup transitions to a dynamic half-kneeling pose with one leg extended forward, an angle that elongates lower-body lines while showcasing the fluid drape of the blue translucent train trailing across the floor. Balancing the massive greatsword demanded constant core adjustments while projecting cool detachment and resolute conviction through my gaze.
The overall lighting design emphasizes cool tones, with luminous blue backlighting forging a crisp silhouette against the white architectural facades to build expansive spatial depth. Tremendous thanks to photographer @Yongzhe (Teacher Maoju) for capturing the scene with razor-sharp precision; diverse framing and lighting setups drew out both the gossamer translucence of the garments and the weapon's lethal edge. The entire shoot progressed smoothly, and fine-tuning every nuanced detail allowed our ultimate vision to materialize flawlessly.
