This photoshoot for Izayoi Miku took quite a while in early preparation. From custom-making the costume and styling the wig to communicating the Studio shoot plan with Xingyou, every step required careful thought and effort.
First, let's talk about the costume. The main color palette consists of bright yellow and royal blue in a classic Idol stage costume style. The top features a corset-like bustier design, adorned with dark blue teardrop fabric and diamond-shaped gemstone embellishments at the chest, while the puff sleeves are edged with translucent blue ruffles. The bottom is a tiered, fluffy mini skirt—yellow on the outside with white inner ruffles, and a blue lace border tracing the hem. The headpiece was where the most care was invested: white blossoms combined with blue gems and metallic disc accents; the moment I put it on, everything felt just right. The accessories include white over-the-elbow opera gloves lined with blue trim and tied with a yellow-and-blue gradient ribbon. For the legs, I wore white over-the-knee socks (White stockings), paired with bright yellow stiletto heels accented with white floral appliqués on the vamp, echoing the headpiece seamlessly.
The studio set was also incredible. Directly behind me stood a massive white Gothic pointed arch flanked by Roman columns, with clusters of blue flowers placed to the left and right. The background lighting transitioned through a gradient from cool blue to magenta, creating an immersive stage ambiance. The biggest surprise was the floor, which utilized a high-gloss mirrored material. Once standing on it, the reflections of the stage lights, skirt hem, and flowers mirrored right beneath my feet, instantly expanding the visual sense of space. Because of the reflective floor, even our footing and angles had to be meticulously calculated to prevent accidental reflections of unwanted gear.
Holding a black microphone, I tried various stage poses on the circular platform: sitting sideways with legs crossed and the skirt draping naturally, just showing the rim of the White stockings; standing while raising the microphone in one hand and extending the other outward to simulate the commanding presence of a live concert performance; and posing with one leg lifted and leaning slightly back to showcase the dynamic movement of the skirt layers and the details of the stilettos. Xingyou captured the timing impeccably—especially the shot where I sat on the platform with one leg extended forward and the tiptoe touching down; the clean mirror reflection paired with the pink and blue ambient lights made the composition look strikingly pure.
Wearing this ensemble was actually quite heavy—the wig was exceptionally long, the skirt had multiple full layers, and balancing on stiletto heels meant holding rigid posture throughout the shoot. But seeing the final images made all the hard work worthwhile. The white over-the-knee socks paired with yellow stilettos visually elongated the leg line, while the mirrored floor added an ethereal, dreamy layer to the entire composition.
The overall result captured the character's signature stage aura while achieving a distinctive presentation through the play of light and shadow. I hope to share this sparkling magic of the stage with all of you.
