This photoshoot features Castorice from Honkai: Star Rail, showcasing the "Whistle at the Hour of Demise" ensemble as my second official cosplay set. Having one project under my belt gave me noticeably more confidence and practical experience in prepping hair, makeup, and props this time around.
The most painstaking aspects of styling were trimming the wig and securing the oversized butterfly prop. The pink floral hair ornament and black chain required careful adjustment to hug the skull naturally, while the Elf ears utilized a newer adhesive blend to ensure smooth, seamless edges against the skin. The outfit's architecture places high demands on bodily proportions: the floral bodice detailing and waist straps needed continual fine-tuning, and the multi-layered skirt required delicate re-draping during seated or kneeling poses to maintain a cohesive silhouette. The long White stockings served as a vital asset, beautifully elongating visual lines in full-length frames—I even made sure to stretch beforehand to keep leg contours taut and fluid. For makeup, violet lenses paired with soft pinkish-purple eyeshadow amplified her dreamy allure over a natural, flawless base.
Working with the photographer went seamlessly. To capture her weightless, slightly enigmatic aura, we favored subtle head tilts toward the lens and outstretched hand poses cradling the giant butterfly, which accentuated upper-body curves, skirt tiers, and elongated hosiery lines simultaneously. The staging featured magenta glass windows and crimson floral clusters that glowed under the studio lighting, while post-processing retained soft blue-violet butterfly depth of field to draw focus to facial expressions and garment highlights. Although managing the expansive petticoat grew physically fatiguing, the final frames were immensely satisfying and deepened my understanding of character body language.
