[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane Qipao: Foshan CPG Day 2 Shoot Log

For Foshan CPG Day 2, I cosplayed Cheshire from Azur Lane in her Qipao. The deep blue velvet fabric of this outfit looked wonderfully textured under the lighting, especially the golden embroidery details on the chest and skirt hem—the craftsmanship is exquisite and doesn't look cheap at all. The White stockings combined with garters and the slit design flattered the figure perfectly. During the shoot, low-angle shots maximized the elongation of the leg lines, and paired with black high heels, I was able to easily adjust my center of gravity and posture, which is ideal for an anime convention environment that requires extensive walking and frequent posing. For makeup, I specifically used red eyeshadow and heavier eyeliner to enhance the character's alluring yet playful vibe, while selecting a gray-blue highlighted wig to recreate her signature hair color and accessories. This outfit also places high demands on posture; because the Qipao is tight, I had to keep my back as straight as possible to hold the garment's shape properly.

For this shoot, I mainly used the metal suitcase I brought along as a prop. On one hand, it relieved leg fatigue from long periods of standing and posing; on the other hand, the height of the suitcase allowed for many flattering seated compositions, especially in areas with strong depth of field like corridors. The low angle paired with long-leg poses created a commanding yet subtly sexy visual impact. Since the Qipao is form-fitting, I had to be mindful of the side slit position when moving and posing to avoid wardrobe malfunctions. The lace-up back design also allowed for easy tightness adjustments, highlighting the back contour. The lighting at the convention that day was fantastic, particularly the blend of overhead lights and natural light streaming through the glass curtain wall, which helped the photographer capture skin texture beautifully. Because the photographer and I synced well, the posing flowed quickly and the yield rate of good photos was high. I had to touch up my makeup many times during backstage breaks. Also, because the White stockings are fragile and easily get dirty or snagged walking around the venue, I had to watch the floor closely during the shoot to avoid scrapes, ensuring the lace trims on my legs were neatly arranged before shooting.

This Qipao comes with many accessories—from the lace hairpiece on top to the plush shoulder wrap and gloves—putting it all on took quite some time. Especially while taking photos, I constantly had to adjust the plush wrap to prevent it from covering the chest cutout and ruining the overall visual effect. The shooting atmosphere was very relaxed with great teamwork all around. Although my feet were sore from standing all day, seeing the final photos made it completely worth it. Composition-wise, low-angle shots made great use of the trailing skirt hem, making me look tall and slender. Sitting on the suitcase also effectively utilized its highly reflective surface, giving the overall frame a strong sense of three-dimensionality. While preparing this look, I researched many official character arts in advance to ensure the poses and props were faithfully recreated. The tailoring of the outfit is very form-fitting but demands constant posture maintenance—such tight dresses are highly flattering for showcasing body lines. I believe outfits that tastefully highlight feminine curves are very popular subjects in convention photography. I'm taking this shoot as an opportunity to archive another memory in my 2D lifestyle.
