[Entelechia Cosplay] Arknights Entelechia's Gothic Dark Style

I put together this black and red outfit for Entelechia myself, leaning into an overall Gothic dark style. Shooting today at this European-style vintage staircase, we happened to catch a fantastic side-backlight. The texture of the wooden handrail and the nearby flowers added a lot of richness to the frame's structure. The black and red color palette fits the character's setting perfectly, with the red gloves serving as a subtle highlight in the composition.

As for the props, the black long-handled weapon I brought looked great on the stairs. Coordinating with precise posing, it helped stretch the overall visual proportions. In terms of makeup, I put extra emphasis on the eyes, brows, and red lip makeup. Combined with the short black hair and pointed elf ears, this brought out the character's cool and elegant vibe. Managing the wig was quite straightforward; the main task was ensuring the horn and ear accessories on top of my head were securely fastened so I could confidently make larger movements during the shoot.

The shooting venue was a huge plus. The dark-toned light and shadow of the vintage carved staircase greatly enhanced the character's mysterious and detached temperament. The short-style design paired with a thigh strap showed off great lines during movement and sitting poses. Throughout the shoot, I kept adjusting the angle of the weapon to capture that cool, slightly proud composure, while also making active eye contact with the camera to give the final photos a stronger sense of interaction.

Overall, it was a highly efficient shooting experience. Confirming the costume details and wig styling beforehand, and then aligning with the photographer's lighting angles on-site made it very easy to bring out the atmosphere in the final photos. For visually striking styles like Dark Gothic, the choice of lighting and venue is indeed crucial. Grabbing the backlighting opportunity this time added a golden rim light to my overall silhouette, and the depth of the European architecture kept the frame from looking flat. When cosplaying characters with a similar style, you can pay more attention to how light reflects off costume folds and props, which can sometimes yield unexpected results. I find this dark Gothic style particularly suited to embodying the character's independent, cool, and detached nature, and the classic black, white, and red color scheme remains timeless in any setting.

Regarding the costume's material, the fabric features a subtle sheen, allowing texture and layers to show under backlighting or sidelighting instead of turning into a flat black mass. The patent leather texture of the red gloves also provided a wonderful contrast with the top's material. For the thigh strap, I specifically chose a shiny version with colorful textures to add a small touch of contrast within the black theme. The long-handled weapon in my hand had some weight to it during the shoot, but it balanced the composition's weight beautifully.

While shooting this set, I kept thinking about how to integrate this dark aesthetic with the vintage scene. I eventually chose a posture of leaning slightly against the handrail, which showcased the garment's cut while echoing the wooden texture behind me. The wig and hair ornaments took on an unexpectedly clear and translucent quality under the stairwell's highlights.

Actually, the photographer did an amazing job with the lighting, highlighting my facial contours and the texture of the clothes. Since indoor light can often be messy, a dark outfit on a European staircase can easily look flat without proper lighting. Using backlights and sidelights, we outlined my shoulders and arms, letting the character pop out from the background.

Entelechia naturally carries a vibe of interwoven splendor and mystery, so I intentionally emphasized the saturation and luster of the red details on the outfit, such as the gloves and splicing lines. This ensured that regardless of the lighting conditions, that red would remain the focus of attention. The design of the thigh strap and shorts blends elegance with crisp elements, which, paired with the weapon, creates a combative yet gorgeous feel.

When shooting a staircase theme, the staggered railings and handrails serve as excellent foreground elements, adding layers and depth. Since I wanted to present a cool, slightly imposing beauty vibe, I kept my expressions relatively calm, relying mainly on my eyes to convey a sharp, cold look.

This was my first time trying a look with pointed elf ears and horns. The most important thing during fitting was the transition between the wig and the props to ensure overall integrity from both the front and side views. Having seen other players' cosplays of this set, I noticed everyone has different takes on how to hold the weapon. This time, I mainly wanted to project a calm and effortless feeling, so I didn't grip the long shaft too tightly, letting my arm hang naturally or rest on the handrail. This relaxed feel is actually quite important in dark-style shoots to neutralize some of the character's distance.

Regarding the dark Gothic feel of this outfit, I believe that besides the clothing itself, expressions and subtle facial details play a vital role. The character's cool elegance isn't an absolute, unapproachable ice, but rather a lazy, observant wisdom. Therefore, I experimented with different angles throughout the shoot—looking down at the camera as well as staring straight ahead—to capture this complex temperament. From the final photos, the light reflecting off the red gloves and white collar did a great job of breaking up the heaviness of the black boots and black coat. To make a character stand out in a complex environment, the choice of costume materials, prop pairing, and light-and-shadow coordination are all indispensable.
