When shooting these Halford cosplay Convention photos at the anime convention, all I really wanted to convey was a quiet yet determined presence. Since her original line is "Thou art the one I have chosen," the tone for this photoshoot was set around a mood that blends scrutinizing contemplation with subtle intimacy.

Let's first talk about the overall styling. The wig features a gradient from a white base to light pink tips; such pale tones can easily get blown out under bright convention hall lighting and intense flash strobes, so the makeup had to be exceptionally clean and sharp. To match the red contact lenses and soft pink lips, I deliberately defined the eyeliner and used the natural curl of the eyelashes to give strength to my gaze, preventing the pale-colored attire from overwhelming my presence. The headpiece was where the most thought went into this look: built upon a lace-trimmed white mini top hat, it was adorned with fluffy animal ears, pink pom-poms, and rhinestones. The layered visual effect made the head look richly framed, though it was noticeably heavy.

For the costume, I chose a lace top with sheer tulle, anchored visually by a large black ribbon bow at the neckline. Ruffled sleeves along the shoulders and arms added airy lightness, while delicate little bows tied around the wrists ensured the character's youthful girlhood charm was preserved. The garment's cut demands good posture, but luckily the convention hall was spacious enough for me to comfortably stretch out into semi-reclined angles.

The biggest highlight of this shoot—or rather, my true "teammate"—was the giant teddy bear in my arms. The plush texture looked remarkably soft under cool white light, and the purple-pink cross buttons on its back along with the bow buckles on its feet echoed the overall pink-and-white color palette. Holding such a massive plush toy during a White-haired character convention photo shoot is quite a test of stamina: arms must hold a stable posture without squeezing too tightly to crease the fluff, while avoiding obstructing facial or chest details. Fortunately, photographer Yu Xiaoyu's shooting rhythm was very steady; without forcing overly complex poses, he had me maintain a natural reclining angle under high-key light, directly producing a pristine and transparent aesthetic.

The benefit of this high-key lighting for Convention photos is filtering out the messy background elements of the exhibition hall, leaving expansive clean space to accentuate costume details and facial expressions. While shooting, I thought about how the confidence in her line, "A single victory in battle is nothing extraordinary," pairs fittingly with these level-angle stills. Even though the lighting is soft, the sharp resolve retained in the eyes adds compelling storytelling tension.

For shooting Convention photos inside convention halls, lighting control is always a major challenge. The ambient light this time leaned cool, so we slightly adjusted the color temperature in post-processing to soften the white tulle and make the pink hair tips appear more natural. When photographing characters with fluffy hair and plush fabric textures using Plush props, the biggest worry is harsh cut-out edges and blown-out glare. The photographer used a softbox during lighting setup to ensure the plush edges of the giant teddy bear and headpiece wouldn't blur into an unreadable mess.

Whenever doing an Azur Lane cosplay in an outdoor-adjacent or open tent pavilion venue, the greatest fulfillment comes from bringing a 2D character to life in three dimensions. Although moving around in this ensemble—especially balancing the heavy headpiece and navigating crowds with Plush props—can be exhausting, seeing captured moments radiate the exact atmosphere I envisioned makes all the effort worthwhile.
