[Hayase Yuuka cosplay] Bringing Blue Archive's Pajama Everyday Life into Reality

Wearing pajamas to an anime convention might sound a bit unconventional, but once you try it, you'll realize this effortless style is truly addictive. This time, I chose a light blue pajama set covered in pink heart patterns to recreate Blue Archive's Hayase Yuuka, originally aiming to break away from the notion that anime cosplay outfits must always be elaborate, heavy, and intricate. The fluffy white bunny ear headband, paired with the silver floating halo and vibrant straight blue hair, creates a look that is deceptively simple yet instantly recognizable as her classic everyday look.

The shooting schedule for the day was completely casual. We didn't bother hunting for elaborate studio setups, simply carrying a white circular plush mat and shooting as we went. In Photo 3, I'm sitting on the mat with legs stretched out, propping myself up with one hand while holding my headband with the other, a white plush slipper with a red bow casually tossed beside me. This composition and pose reflected my most genuine state at the moment—after shooting for a while, I just wanted to sit on the floor and catch my breath. The sunlight was ample, casting directly onto my legs and the adjacent floor. Rather than cluttering the scene, the striking interplay of light and shadow lent these loungewear photos an authentic, lively realism.

Many convention attendees gave surprised looks or curiously asked if it felt cold or inconvenient to dress like this. In truth, when you feel comfortable, confidence and ease naturally radiate through your posture. Furthermore, the pajama cut is loose and breezy, featuring cute ruffled hems on the shorts that look light and carefree whether in the dimmer indoor halls of Photos 1 & 2 or the bright outdoor plaza of Photo 4. What stood out to me was my chin-resting pose and gaze in Photo 2—it’s identical to how I space out at home. Honestly, turning an anime convention shoot into a cozy casual cosplay experience was a wonderfully unique feeling.

Working with photographer @Tianping-kun went incredibly smoothly. He excels at capturing these spontaneous, lazy moments—no forced posing, no complex lighting rigs, just relying on natural light and body language to bring tension to the frame. For instance, in Photo 1, crossing my arms while looking straight ahead conveys a confident, composed demeanor; meanwhile, the standing pose in Photo 4 shifts weight to one leg with the other lightly touching the ground, looking breezy and playful to capture the character's multifaceted charm.

Beyond styling, I put considerable effort into channeling the character's disposition. In Blue Archive, Hayase Yuuka is portrayed as diligent and pragmatic yet retaining a playful, girlish heart. Slipping into this outfit felt as though the character's soul relaxed along with me. For the halo, I chose a material with metallic luster so that even under intense sunlight, it maintained an intriguing fusion of sci-fi aesthetics and daily life. The plush slippers featured big red bows that echoed the pink heart motifs on the pajamas, coming together like a snapshot of daily life stepping straight out of the game.

Whenever I do anime cosplay, I don't necessarily seek attention through dramatic makeup or extravagant costumes; I prefer each set to convey a genuine sense of life. This 'most comfortable episode' didn't involve exhausting location running—just finding a cozy spot, spreading the mat, sitting or lounging naturally, and waiting for the camera to freeze a moment of exquisite light. Looking back at these photos and remembering the breeze, the sunshine, and the smiles of convention-goers passing by, these unembellished snapshots of daily life often resonate the most.
