Shooting these Genshin Impact Nefer cosplay (Nefer cosplay) Cosplay event photos at the convention took nearly an hour just to put on the complete outfit. The dark green fabric has a velvety texture with a subtle sheen, but it absorbs heat intensely—after walking around the crowded hall once, my back was soaked in sweat. Many of the golden ornaments across the chest and waist are rigid, clinking softly with movement, and the metal plates chafed slightly against my shoulder blades. The trickiest part was the massive floating streamers behind me—the true soul of this look, yet a nightmare for shooting. With drafts in the convention hall, the streamers tangled easily; every two steps required looking back to untangle them for fear of tripping. To capture that ethereal, flowing flutter during the shoot, my best friend stood nearby using a long pole to lift the ribbons, timing the gusts from the ventilation vents to freeze-frame the exact moment the fabric caught the air.
For the single-leg raised pose on the cover photo, I actually leaned against the wall to stabilize my center of gravity, as those metallic pointed-toe high heels are extremely stiff, and slender stiletto heels slip easily on smooth concrete floors. After finishing that pose, my thigh muscles ached intensely, trembling for quite a while before recovering. Due to the black steel truss ceiling and harsh white spotlights, the lighting ratio on site was immense. Fortunately, the camera's high-ISO performance held up well, and in post-processing, I slightly darkened the background to accentuate the blue-green tones and golden reflections on the character.
On the day of the shoot, I ran into many fellow enthusiasts who praised the high fidelity of the outfit, and we chatted about Genshin Impact character lore and costume details. But cosplaying a high-difficulty character as an ordinary enthusiast takes a massive physical toll: beyond using ample hairspray and bobby pins to keep the wig from slipping due to sweat, maintaining steady facial composure is a constant effort. Wearing colored contact lenses for extended periods wasn't comfortable either, though fortunately friends on site helped keep an eye out. Seeing the drape of the streamers and the metallic sheen in the final Anime-style photography photos made all the grueling preparation and physical strain worthwhile. This Cosplay event photos recap is probably my most demanding shoot recently, having to balance poised aesthetics with physical endurance—but being able to produce textured, high-quality images makes it all worth it.
