This time, the goal was to realize that dream of "saving the world"—putting on this set of Aemeath gear and truly standing in front of the camera. In the world of Wuthering Waves, the character Aemeath has always possessed a very special sense of power, and this very power is the core of what I initially wanted to recreate. A lot of thought went into preparing everything from the costume to the props for this photoset, especially the metallic-textured accessories and patchwork fabrics on the clothing; they look simple, but the actual tailoring, putting it on, and taking it off require a lot of technical skill.
The wig is a light pink high ponytail with specially highlighted colors, adorned with cyan-blue feather-like and curved hair accessories on the top and sides of the ears. To ensure the wig didn't get frizzy during the shoot that day, it took over half an hour just to comb it smooth. The heaviest and most difficult part was actually that long staff-like prop, which was entirely hand-painted, featuring a crystal-textured blue color and white wing structures. When holding it, the entire center of gravity required arm strength to support, but that sense of weight from holding the weapon was exactly what allowed me to naturally immerse myself in the character's state.
In terms of expressiveness, I also intentionally adjusted my demeanor. In my understanding, Aemeath is not a character with just a single label; you can see that she has the unique cuteness and playfulness of a girl, while also being fully capable of commanding the combat power brought by this complex gear. Therefore, in front of the lens, I tried to showcase confidence through my leg and body lines, while coordinating my gaze to convey a gentle yet resilient feeling. Poses like sitting or standing while holding the staff as shown in the pictures require constantly adjusting the strength of the core and arms, ensuring that the folds of the clothes and the flow of the ribbons hit the most beautiful second in the frame.
What satisfied me most about this shoot was the combination of lighting arrangement and background. The entire scene utilized low-saturation pink and blue atmospheric lights, and the background included classical Roman columns and white lace window frames, with the floor also being a highly reflective material. After blending these elements together, it not only made the gradient colors of the costume look exceptionally layered but also gave the entire image a very strong dreamlike quality. Especially the reflections in the final photos when the light hit the metal badges and edge ornaments stood out with an outstanding texture, truly recreating the premium feel of the official game illustrations.
From finalizing the hair and makeup all the way to editing and releasing the photos, the process of going back and forth with the photography and styling teams was quite exhausting, but every time I saw myself gradually bringing this character to life in the viewfinder, I felt a special sense of accomplishment. I have always loved extracting characters from the game screens and turning them into tangible figures in real life. The resilience and protective will embodied by Aemeath are also the attitudes I always want to convey in my own cosplay creations.
For this Aemeath cosplay, I have also accumulated some practical experience, such as needing to exert slight outward force with the wrist when holding the weapon to make the posture look upright; another example is that the flowing skirt hem and layers of tulle must be slightly spread out by hand when sitting or standing to look good. Although the shooting process was very physically demanding, seeing these near-perfect lighting atmospheres and camera presence makes it feel like everything was worth it. I hope this share allows everyone to see my most sincere presentation of this character.
