[Cyrene Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail - Pink Fairytale Photoshoot in a Birdcage Set - Image 1

I just finished organizing this set of finished Cyrene cosplay photos from Honkai: Star Rail. The overall tone fits the character's light, fairytale-like atmosphere. Instead of intentionally chasing excessive splendor, the focus was placed on soft and translucent textures.

First, let's talk about costume crafting. This outfit has very rich layering, far from simple single-layer fabric. For the blue wing-like decorations and white bow at the neckline and shoulders, I selected twill fabric with a pearlescent effect that glimmers subtly under studio lights. The main body of the skirt uses multi-layered chiffon and light tulle, edged with soft pink and pale purple gradient ruffles. The innermost deep purple lining not only grounds the overall tone but also prevents accidental exposure. To recreate the white vine-like totem on the character's legs, I ordered custom temporary water-slide tattoos and spent a lot of time applying them one by one the night before shooting, carefully adjusting positioning and tension to conform to the curves of the thigh and calf muscles.

As for the wig, the two large pink-and-white gradient twin-tails are the essence. The curvature of the hair strands truly tests the stylist's craftsmanship. To present that naturally fluffy, marshmallow-like texture in front of the camera, I used a crimping iron to boost the roots and combed through layer by layer with hairspray. The top and bangs on both sides also needed soft handling so as not to look stiff, while the hair accessories were secured right beside the ears to avoid obscuring the facial contours.

For makeup, low-saturation eyeshadows matching the pink-and-purple spectrum were chosen, paired with subtle shimmer highlights to make the eyes look clearer and more spirited. The lip color was chosen from a milk-tea palette to keep the overall makeup clean.

The layout on shooting day was also quite crucial. Instead of high-contrast light sources, we used softboxes with pink gels so that the scene's golden iron birdcage, hanging white gauze, and nearby artificial flowers were all bathed in soft pinkish-purple ambient light. I also repeatedly adjusted my seating angles to reveal the white tattoos on my stockings while letting the glittery surface of my heels catch the light. Meanwhile, positioning my hands near my chest filled empty space and focused visual attention on the details of my face and upper body.

Post-processing mainly focused on color unification and skin texture optimization. I separately brightened the pearlescent sheen of the outfit and slightly blurred the metallic background frame to make the character pop, making the overall mood resemble a romantic fairytale realm. Shooting with such multi-layered dresses is exhausting because you have to maintain poses without rumpling the fabric, but seeing all the details fall into place in the final photos makes it entirely worth it.

Actually, we hit a few snags during the early makeup test phase. For instance, the fluffiness of the twin-tails would look flat if the inner layers weren't prepped properly. To find the right balance, the photographer and I repeatedly tested the lighting ratio between background highlights and key light on the subject. The natural gradient transition between pink and white in the final result was indeed created after much trial and error.

To add a bit more on prop arrangement: the pink flower bouquet in front was intentionally placed very close to the lens, utilizing a wide aperture for foreground blur to increase depth of field. To match this romantic tone, the studio's white gauze was stacked in multiple layers to soften the visual pressure of the golden birdcage.

In addition, the high heels used for this shoot featured fine silver glitter on the uppers, and I specifically chose a thin-strap style to make the ankles look lighter. Wearing and adjusting this costume was quite challenging; due to the oversized skirt hem, every shift in seating position required slight adjustments to the belt position to keep the look intact. With the final results out, I am very satisfied with the overall color atmosphere and hope it conveys the character's gentleness and agility. The lighting angles and color tuning in post-production established the character's image through visual language. Particularly around the knees and calves, slight micro-adjustments in seating posture successfully softened hard muscle lines, making the silhouette appear smoother. Overall, it was a very comfortable creative experience, and tweaking every little detail in the studio felt fantastic.
