We finally managed to shoot the convention photos for Prestige Gwen this time. From preparation to formally wearing this outfit, many details were adjusted along the way. To recreate the character's signature green double hair buns, trimming and styling the wig took a very long time—especially the long bangs covering the right eye, which needed to be voluminous without obstructing vision, requiring nearly half a bottle of hairspray to secure. For the veil part, a subtle shimmering organza material was chosen, with gold star patches ironed onto the edge piece by piece to create a light and ethereal feel when walking.
The costume's layering is exceptionally rich. The upper body is a white corset, with dark blue geometric grid patterns crafted via embroidery, and crisp gold-trimmed edges. To match that dark blue petal collar, matching earrings were specially made. The skirt hem consists of multi-layered puffy skirts, with shield-shaped decorations featuring blue sequins fixed on the outer layer, and the lace trims presenting a wonderful texture under the convention's lighting. The three-dimensional floral decorations at the waist were made using shrink plastic sheets as a base combined with resin petals, resulting in a relatively natural color gradient.
In terms of props, this iridescent greatsword is absolute focus of the entire venue. The blade uses a special acrylic material, capable of refracting rainbow-like glows under the exhibition hall's overhead lights. The gold hollowed-out structure of the handguard is quite complex; to reduce weight, the interior was hollowed out, yet it still feels quite heavy in hand. When shooting photo one with a single-leg standing pose, core strength had to be tightly engaged, otherwise it's easy to shake together with the sword. The semi-kneeling horizontal sword-holding posture in photo two was meant to better showcase the weapon's breadth and material glossiness.
Regarding makeup, to match the green hair, the eyeshadow used blue-green-toned cool shades, paired with bright blue circle lenses. The base makeup used a matte foundation because moving back and forth at the comic con tends to cause sweating, and a matte complexion is less prone to oil shine under camera flashes. The lower body was paired with slightly shimmering White stockings and custom high-heeled shoes, with the blue gem on the shoes unifying with the overall color tone. However, wearing stilettos to walk around the venue all day is truly a test of physical strength, though fortunately the photographer captured the moment of jumping, and the skirt hem's arc and the texture of the White stockings under light and shadow were both wonderfully expressed.
The shooting lighting at the comic con venue is quite complex, and finding a background took a lot of effort. We tried our best to avoid messy booths and crowds, choosing areas with dark pillars and gray reflective flooring. The cool-toned environment happened to set off the costume's brightness and color saturation. Wearing this outfit and assembling the props requires immense patience, but seeing the final finished photos makes all the hard work entirely worthwhile.
