[Changli Cosplay] Shooting Changli Swimsuit in Zhoushan with VILTROX 135 LAB: Sea Breeze and Lens Compression

The shooting location was at the Zhoushan beach, and this time I chose the VILTROX 135 LAB lens to record the Changli swimsuit look from Wuthering Waves. Before starting, I was actually a bit anxious; using a 135mm focal length to shoot people in such an open seaside space can easily turn into close-up headshots or make the background look too flat. But after the actual test shots, I found that the spatial compression of this lens is absolutely wonderful. It pulls the distant waves and sky closer, giving the entire frame a depth with a strong oil-painting texture.

The sea breeze was very strong, and Changli's wig and swimsuit were blown messy yet remained full of life. At this moment, the bokeh effect brought by the 135mm large aperture was a massive help. The shallow depth of field avoided the cluttered crowds in the background, locking the focus tightly on the character, preserving a great sense of atmosphere even during full-body movements. Especially the texture of the petals and ribbons, the lens's resolving power performed solidly. Without the need for excessive post-processing, the raw image already has a very translucent sunlight feel.

The light in Zhoushan was very harsh, so I tried my best to choose a side-backlight, letting the edges of the hair strands be outlined with a warm contour. This swimsuit itself features many lightweight ruffles and bright accents, showing two entirely different textures under front-lighting versus back-lighting. The VILTROX 135 LAB's color reproduction leans toward reality, which naturally highlights the refreshing feel of the coast instead. Overall, the telephoto lens definitely enhanced the immersion of the atmosphere, making the audience feel as if they are standing by the sea catching the breeze together with the character, rather than just looking at a generic cliché portrait across a screen. I was actually a bit nervous during the shoot because large movements could easily cause missed focus, but Viltrox's autofocus tracked incredibly stably, making the snapshots of holding flower bouquets and tucking hair very smooth. The seawater in Zhoushan was strikingly blue, which matched the swimsuit's color scheme perfectly—a truly fulfilling travel photography trip.
