The hall of the Beijing ijoy Anime Convention was as massive as ever, with the overhead steel trusses beneath the hall lighting giving off a unique texture where industrial style collides with ACG culture. This time, I finally had the opportunity to bring The Shorekeeper's attire from Wuthering Waves offline to meet everyone. In fact, selecting materials took a long time of deliberation; to faithfully recreate that airy feeling where ripples of water interweave with light and shadow, we swapped fabrics for the underdress and sleeves multiple times. The white base lining required a certain degree of crisp structure to uphold the chest cutout and shoulder ruffles, while the light blue sheer gossamer overlay had to remain soft and translucent. The long blue sheer panels draping down both sides of the skirt serve as the soul of the entire garment—while walking, the angles required continual adjustment to let the train cascade with natural, fluid movement. Because the outfit as a whole leans lightweight and delicate, invisible fastenings and adjustments were tailored close to the body for better on-camera support, ensuring nothing shifted or slipped out of place during wider poses.

The wig was a bright blue long wavy style. To withstand the lighting at the convention floor, the crown was given subtle volume, which, combined with the black-and-blue butterfly hair accessory, established the primary visual focal point. For makeup, blue contact lenses echoed the palette, while the eyeshadow and lip color were dialed up slightly so they would read clearly on camera. The setting of the base makeup took considerable time—after all, with heavy foot traffic and warm temperatures inside the convention hall, maintaining a pristine look throughout a full day of shooting was essential.

Once on site, after meeting up with photographer @摄影-周可, we immediately went hunting for good lighting across the venue. The first set of poses was staged on a black bar stool. Because the skirt features a high-low hemline (short in front and long in back), sitting down required shifting the front hem slightly to the side, allowing the crossed legs to form a flattering elongated silhouette for the camera while keeping my back straight to define the chest cutouts and neckline contour. The slender strap decorations along the arms are two separate pieces; when adjusting poses, extra care was needed to avoid wrapping them too tightly, which would leave red marks and spoil the aesthetics. The photographer guided me to rest one hand on my leg while lifting the other gently to graze my shoulder, creating a natural visual rhythm that kept the framing balanced and uncluttered.

The second standing setup tested sheer physical endurance. While those strappy high-heeled sandals looked stunning, standing for long periods placed quite a strain on the soles of my feet. To let the sheer gossamer of the skirt spread open, my hands adopted open, dance-like gestures with fingertips deliberately engaged and extended, imbuing the shots with dynamic tension that breaks through the second dimension. The photographer timed the shutter releases impeccably; the hall's overhead lights striking the translucent sheer fabric produced a glistening, shimmering ripple effect. To freeze the exact moment the skirt fluttered, we repeatedly adjusted arm heights and the placement of my center of gravity, and seeing the finished pictures made all that effort worthwhile.

Even though the convention floor was crowded and bustling, finding the right angles and lighting yielded truly delightful results. The magic of Convention photos lies in their authentic on-site presence. Finishing these two sets of poses made me feel that more than half of this costume's mission was accomplished. The greatest joy of attending conventions isn't merely wearing cherished outfits, but figuring out how to express the beauty of diverse textures on camera through refined body language. These convention photos capture not only the character, but also the unique convergence of lighting and real-time ambiance. Shooting at Beijing ijoy presented several challenges: complex hall lighting, and overhead spotlights that were bright yet prone to casting odd facial shadows, requiring the photographer to continually scout angles and utilize background bokeh and reflectors for fill. To match camera height and compositional depth, I repeatedly fine-tuned my posture on the black stool. The garment's waist was cinched quite snugly, creating slight compression when seated, yet maintaining an engaged core and upright posture was necessary for the visual result. The standing photo aimed to present the overarching garment structure—especially the layered interplay of the waist and skirt hem; standing with feet slightly staggered elongated the leg lines, complementing the strappy heels for superior visual proportions. Every shutter click was a tangible expression of my understanding of the character. Looking at the previews on the camera screen, the joy of breaking the dimensional barrier is irreplaceable. Though a full convention day is exhausting, capturing these frames and recording all the heartfelt preparation leaves me feeling profoundly fulfilled.
