Bringing this Yuki Takeya cosplay set from School-Live! to fruition took around two weeks of prep across wardrobe and makeup. To capture the nostalgic ambiance of the School Living Club, I selected her quintessential sailor suit uniform. The white short-sleeved blouse features ruffled cuffs and a crisp navy sailor collar, emblazoned with an embroidered red five-pointed star at the center, which pairs with the scarlet ribbon tie to establish a vibrant chromatic contrast. The high-waisted navy pleated skirt is lined with a delicate tier of white lace along the inner hem that peeks out organically in motion, adding playful dimensional layers. To complement the pastel pink wig, I picked a black knit cat-ear beanie accessorized with a mechanical clockwork key on the flank for a nuanced accent.

The shoot was staged in a genuine classroom setting, where the tactile authenticity of the chalkboard and wooden desks and chairs matched the motif flawlessly. I brought along a pink backpack and a tricolor volleyball (blue, yellow, and white) as narrative props to keep hand gestures natural. Early into the session, the lighting fell short of my vision: the room was illuminated by cold ambient daylight, whereas I aimed for a warm amber nostalgic haze reminiscent of sweet memories. After conferring with the photographer, we shifted the key strobe to a warm color temperature and set a rim light along the rear flank—illuminating the pink hair strands while casting soft dimensional shadows across the white shirt.

In choreographing poses, I explored several distinct attitudes. Sitting atop the school desk meant transferring weight onto my bracing arm while bending the other leg naturally to showcase the pale pink polka-dot mid-calf Stockings and white-and-green Mary Jane shoes. This perch heavily challenged core balance to maintain an upright, buoyant posture while keeping micro-expressions relaxed. When handling the volleyball, I prioritized natural body language—cradling the ball against my chest or supporting it palm-up toward the lens to capture moments that blend youthfulness with quiet reverie.

The trickiest technical hurdle was managing the pleated skirt's drape. Knife pleats easily spread haphazardly when seated, so after every posture shift, the assistant smoothed out the pleats and adjusted the backpack straps behind me. For the sequence flashing a peace sign before the chalkboard, we repeated multiple takes because the chalk diagrams and neighboring oversized protractor needed to be framed cleanly without visual clutter; I used the angle of my arms to guide the viewer's eye for balanced composition.

The real allure of this set lies in the synthesis of small details: pink bob, black cat-ear hat, red star on the uniform collar, and dotted Stockings, all grounded by the rustic classroom furnishings into an organic picture. I tested various close-ups and medium portraits—such as resting my chin on one hand at the desk—to accentuate the makeup and facial contours softly under the warm strobes. The session stretched from afternoon until dusk; despite the physical exhaustion of repeated takes, seeing the resulting frames align so cleanly with my vision made the portrayal feel truly true to heart.
