[Altria cosplay] Today's Menu for the Emiya Family: The Everyday Slice of Life of the King of Knights Without Armor

This time, I did an Altria cosplay that leans heavily into a casual slice of life feel. The theme of this shoot was inspired by Today's Menu for the Emiya Family. Since it's time for Shirou to cook after class, Saber, having removed her armor and stepped away from her combat state as the King of Knights, naturally ought to change into casual wear and enjoy a peaceful meal.

For outfit preparation, I set aside the traditional battle armor in favor of an off-white woolen texture jacket, layered with a classic dark blue scarf and a red-and-black bow tie. This layered look resists the chill of early winter while keeping the silhouette sleek without looking bulky. For the bottom, I selected a navy blue pleated mini skirt paired with a black tights outfit to visually extend the leg line, while black platform loafers on my feet fit right into a young girl's everyday casual wear.

In terms of hair and makeup, styling the blonde hair was top priority. To recreate her iconic hair bun, dark blue ribbon was wrapped around the headpiece, crafting a perfectly balanced sense of relaxed casualness. Light green contact lenses matching the character were chosen, and rather than heavy contouring, I kept a slightly rounded facial outline. Under lighting, this soft feature representation aligns closely with the original lore—a girl in appearance who still holds a commanding, naturally majestic presence.

Regarding props during the shoot, to fit the food-centered theme, I specifically prepared bubble tea in a clear cup and a hamburger wrapped in a paper bag. For posing, I deliberately broke away from the King of Knights' traditionally reserved, stately image. Actions like lifting one leg while holding food, tugging at the scarf with both hands, or flashing a peace sign fully capture a young girl's lively, casual slice of life behavior. Yet even so, the calm and firm look in her eyes still captures her innate heroic spirit.

The shoot took place against a seamless beige backdrop paired with softbox lighting for even illumination. Instead of creating harsh light-and-dark contrast lines, this lighting method rendered a bright, clear, high-key atmosphere. From an aesthetic perspective in anime-style photography, this clean and bright color palette fits slice of life works brilliantly, accentuating the fair complexion of the blonde character while highlighting the texture of the black tights outfit and platform loafers.

Stripping off armor doesn't mean losing one's sharp edge; Altria changing out of military gear into a sweater actually allows people to feel her everyday warmth and gentleness away from the battlefield. In cosplay circles, recreating battle attire and armor is often seen as a test of prop and costume craft, but seamlessly blending a classic character into a slice of life setting equally demands capturing the character's nuanced expressions and habits. Throughout this shoot, I strove to find that balance—neither overly stoic nor excessively sweet—maintaining King Arthur's noble pride while conveying her approachable willingness to embrace human everyday life.

Interpreting the character with such a grounded look aims to convey that comforting sense of healing found in Fate works. I hope everyone viewing this set can feel that cozy relaxation of waiting for a home-cooked meal after school or work.
