[Wuthering Waves Cosplay] The Moment of Drawing the Sword at the Convention: This Armor Has Real Weight

The convention photos from this Changsha Anime Convention are finally out! On the day of the shoot, I was actually quite nervous because there were so many accessories for this outfit—it took nearly half an hour just to adjust the straps and armor. But seeing the final shots from photographer WiFi, every bit of effort felt totally worth it. I really love the composition in the shot where I hold the long sword horizontally. The camera captured the intricate pattern details on the weapon perfectly, and combined with the cool-toned lighting, it fully dialed up that chill and sharp, austere atmosphere.

A lot of thought went into the design and color palette of this hair and makeup look. The topknot was wrapped with light green ribbons, paired with a dark wig highlighted in gray, creating rich visual layering. For the eye makeup, red smudging was intentionally emphasized to highlight a sharp gaze, which, together with a pale base, made the overall presence feel much sharper. The sleeves of the outfit feature a wide, flowing silhouette, but rigid black leather pauldrons were added to the shoulders—this contrast between soft and hard textures creates great visual tension on camera. The metal studs on the belt and legs add a subtle mechanical flair; though somewhat heavy to wear, the clinking sound of metal as I walked actually enhanced the character immersion.

The weapon prop was also a major focal point this time. The golden patterns on the blade reflected a subtle, refined luster under the bright convention hall lights, and the black swirl motifs on the guard felt rich in texture. The set of shots capturing the sword-drawing movement gained dynamic tension from hand motion blur, but I personally prefer the stationary horizontal hold because it clearly showcases all the costume and weapon details. The convention venue was actually very noisy, but the photographer was great at timing, swiftly completing the shoot during gaps in the crowd. Once the background blurred out the surrounding flow of people, the image looked remarkably clean.

These convention photos also revealed a few areas for improvement. For instance, the belt tended to slide upward during intense movements, so I might consider adding a hidden snap to secure it next time. Also, the bangs on the wig got a bit sticky from sweat; although it was touched up in post-processing, I definitely need to spray extra setting mist before heading out next time. Overall, though, being able to leave behind such a memory at the Changsha Anime Convention and interact face-to-face with fellow enthusiasts was a wonderful experience. If I get the chance in the future, I will keep optimizing the details of this gear—perhaps adding more exquisite ribbon decorations or swapping in a weapon with LED lighting effects to elevate the overall quality even further.
