Shooting Qingxiao from Wuthering Waves this time, the phrase that resonated most deeply was "Master Qingxiao tells you to hold a horse stance." While that sounds like classic martial arts conditioning, in reality on set, to pull off those light, dynamic, and tension-filled poses atop faux tree branches, my core muscles and legs were constantly engaging at full power. Because the set featured simulated tree trunks, projecting an ethereal, otherworldly grace while maintaining absolute stability was truly no easier than holding a real horse stance.
Wardrobe-wise, this blue-and-white Traditional Chinese style cosplay outfit was designed with incredible delicacy. The mandarin collar and open-back tailoring merge classical aesthetics with subtle sensuality. In particular, the short skirt paired with white pantyhose (White stockings) and white high heels visually elongated leg proportions, while complementing the overarching blue-and-white palette for a translucent, pristine look. The sleeves feature gradient semi-sheer chiffon adorned with subtle damask jacquard textures; whenever in motion or caught in a breeze, the flowing ribbons and sleeves formed gorgeous trajectories. Under studio lighting, the White stockings rendered skin tone uniform and the bodily lines exceptionally clean. The prop was an oversized, translucent light-blue sword resembling crystalline glass; although not overly heavy, holding it aloft with one hand or freezing mid-swing required formidable bodily control.
The surrounding faux white blossom branches and brown trunks were arranged with great care, pairing with the solid blue backdrop to evoke a magical Xianxia fantasy ambiance. When executing poses, I paid meticulous attention to the posture of my arms and legs; especially with White stockings, the elongated stretch of the legs was vital for composition. In one shot where I sat sideways on a trunk, raising the sword in one hand while shaping a Taoist hand seal with the other, the posture demanded full back engagement while keeping my feet planted firmly on the branch. Other standing shots had white heels balancing on faux rocks, requiring continuous center-of-gravity discipline. Behind every seemingly effortless photo, "Master Qingxiao" was quietly enduring a horse stance!
Hair, makeup, and styling were also packed with fine details. The blue wig needed to be styled into fluffy, defined layers, with water-wave elements in the hairpiece and forehead markings accenting the face ingeniously. For contacts, I chose blue, paired with pink eyeshadow and blush so my gaze carried fighting spirit without appearing overly harsh. Throughout the shoot, the photographer offered abundant guidance regarding movement range and eye direction; to capture the exact instant the ribbons flared, we readjusted angles and postures repeatedly. The floral set was effortless to work with, the blue-and-white palette was stunning, and unifying saturation under cool tones made the imagery visually harmonious. Beyond sweeping movements, subtle facial expression management was equally key. Gazing at the blue-and-white interplay of light and shadow, the full compositions, and the costume textures in the final images, enduring those horse stances felt completely worthwhile.
