[Amiya cosplay] Quietness and battle intent under the crown of thorns in Arknights

This time I'm bringing you an Amiya cosplay photo set. Because I really like the character setting of resilience mixed with a sense of brokenness, this set focuses on creating a quiet yet battle-ready atmosphere.

The crown of thorns and the Bunny ear style on top of the head are the soul of the entire look. To express the sharpness of the thorns, a harder material was chosen for the crown, and added with the drape of the black veil, the total weight on the head is actually much heavier than it looks. Wearing it for a long time really makes the neck a bit sore, but standing in front of the camera, the character's inherent aura comes out naturally. The texture of the ears also had to be restored as much as possible; the fluffy illusion combined with a slightly tilted angle is a very iconic memory point for this character.

Regarding the outfit, the hole design on the cuffs and the shredded edges of the skirt are the second highlight of this styling. This kind of battle-damaged or weathered attire looks extremely effective under the lens. The white inner wear and black veil form a strong color contrast, simply and clearly highlighting the character's own temperament. Although it looks a bit thin, the tailoring actually fits the body shape very well and is quite easy to move around in, without affecting various poses during shooting.

The scene for this shoot was chosen in a corner of an anime convention. The ambient lighting was actually quite complex; those circular light spots at the top were actually the venue lights. During shooting, matched with the photographer's fill light, those light spots happened to become bokeh in the background, making the character stand out three-dimensionally. I was sitting on that industrial-style aluminum alloy folding ladder at the time, aiming for a high-and-mighty feel that was also imbued with a hint of detachment and brokenness.

To complement this aloof yet slightly divine setting, the eye makeup was specially processed to make the gaze look cooler and deeper. As for the hairstyle, although the reddish-brown hair color is striking, under low-key ambient lighting, it actually appears very textured. The style of the entire photo set leans toward Cool-toned photography, especially in rendering the dark shadow atmosphere, perfectly matching the character's setting in this specific scene.

Additionally, special mention must be made of the light and shadow handling this time. The photographer really knew how to utilize on-site light and shadows, making facial contour lines look very soft under dim light. That layer of black veil draped over the head, with its semi-transparent texture, added a layer of haziness to the eyes, making them look even more narrative.

Cosplaying Amiya this time was truly a brand-new experience. Although the character herself seems like a relatively gentle girl, adopting this more visually impactful styling and expression technique this time was also a novel attempt. Finding angles on the ladder actually tested my sense of balance quite a bit, because I had to make leg lines look stretched and beautiful while controlling posture so the costume wouldn't look deformed. Fortunately, the support assistant helped hold the ladder below, ensuring safety while giving me a great sense of security, allowing me to focus more on feeling the character.

The reason cosplay is so fascinating is perhaps that it allows one to briefly detach from reality and feel the aura of another world. The character of Amiya herself has a very rich backstory; expressing her slightly fatigued yet firm heart through makeup, expressions, and photographic atmosphere was the goal of creating this photo set. I usually do outdoor shoots more often, so this indoor session with meticulous lighting felt very fresh to me. The application of lighting is truly a crucial step in breathing soul into a character.

From clothing details to overall atmosphere, I am quite satisfied with this presentation. I hope to try some more challenging poses or scenes next time. That's all for sharing this main photo set; there are still several photos from different angles that I'll release gradually when I have time.
