[Nefer cosplay] Serenity and Sharpness Under Genshin Impact: Song of the Welkin Moon

A lot of thought went into crafting this Nefer cosplay outfit, from fabric selection to joining together the finer details, all to capture that iconic feel. Dark green velvet was chosen as the main fabric for the top; the advantage of this material is that under studio lights from different angles, it refracts varied dark luster, which, combined with large areas of gold-gilded metal accessories, creates a visual contrast between composure and sharpness. The pair of horns on the headpiece and the diamond-shaped mark on the forehead required repeated angle adjustments during fitting to ensure a snug and secure fit. The geometric line prints on the white miniskirt were given a reflective finish to prevent noticeable color discrepancies under lighting. The black thigh ring serves not only as a decorative accent but also as an anchor for the outfit's visual proportions.

Makeup and wig styling were key to achieving authenticity. The dark green hair strands were contoured to frame the face gently, accentuating the forehead adornment. Matching green contact lenses were worn, and the eyeliner was slightly flicked upward to draw a sharp eye shape, paired with subtle dark red transitions to give my gaze a focused presence on camera. The connections between the spiked hand accessories and the long black gloves were reinforced to prevent loosening during posing. The choice of footwear anchored the overall look perfectly; golden high-heeled sandals featuring light blue heels and straps added a lively pop of bright color to the palette of green, gold, white, and black, keeping the area beneath the skirt from looking overly heavy.

For the shoot, we experimented with a mix of solid-color studio backdrops and real-life sets. In the first shot on a white cylindrical pedestal, the weight was shifted toward crossed legs, where the clean backdrop made the outfit's intricate lines crystal clear, while the leg proportions and cinched waistline appeared just right on camera. In the second photo, sitting sideways on a plush rug allowed the plush texture to contrast with the hard feel of the armor, while the claw-like finger props added a playful touch to the pose. The third shot transitioned to a vintage study setting, where dark wooden bookshelves and a brown leather couch created a classical atmosphere. Kneeling on one knee while leaning forward made the skirt and green arm streamers flutter backward, which, combined with the indoor perspective, heightened the character's dynamic tension.

That line in the post, "What are you willing to come for?"—interpreting a beloved character is itself the answer. Conveying the design concepts behind Genshin Impact's world through physical fabrics and visual imagery requires real effort to balance costume structure with poise. Due to the support elements of the costume and the interference of the floating streamers, careful attention had to be paid to body weight placement during posing to maintain aesthetic appeal without looking stiff. This shoot was an experience I personally cherish, striving for accurate styling while remaining true to the character's cool yet composed composure.
