[Amiya Cosplay] Birthday Commemoration Amidst Ginkgo Season, Arknights Character Photo Set

This winter birthday commemoration photo set for Amiya is finally ready. The initial concept stemmed from wanting to leave behind something filled with a sense of ritual at a specific time every year. When discussing ideas with the photographer, I proposed stepping completely away from indoor studio environments to seek outdoor settings that could seamlessly blend with natural light. The chosen location was a street carpeted with fallen ginkgo leaves and a nearby lawn. Sunlight in December is usually quite thin, but on the afternoon of the shoot, the light was just right; the golden halo slanting across my face formed a wonderfully comfortable visual contrast with the cool blue-and-white checkered tones of my outfit.

For styling, I selected a brown gradient wig with inward-curled ends to create a full, voluminous look. I manually added subtle holographic glitter to the bangs so that under diffused light, it would produce a soft, flowing starlight effect. This detail wasn't intentionally brightened during post-processing, preserving a very natural glow. For the animal ear accessories atop my head, I specifically chose a hand-trimmed version; the inner fur texture felt authentic, and the subtle color variations along the edges closely matched natural specimen realism. Between shooting takes, I gently pressed the ears to ensure they wouldn't loosen—after all, outdoor movements are larger than in a studio, and keeping those fluffy ears in prime shape was essential. The bow tie accessories on both sides featured Klein blue ribbons tied with balanced tails so that even under a gentle breeze, they would sway naturally.

The color-spliced structure of this dress is particularly interesting. It consists primarily of fine blue-and-white checkered fabric, complemented by a white outer apron that adds visual layering. To guarantee the skirt's fluffiness, I wore two layers of stiff petticoats underneath, allowing the hem to flare out naturally into an umbrella shape when captured from wide-angle or eye-level perspectives. Red-trimmed ruffles lined the collar and cuffs, creating eye-catching details in close-up shots. Beyond the dress itself, the white lace ruffle around the neckline was stitched separately, offering a soft touch and innate sweet maidenly charm.

Regarding props, I brought two main items. One was a long white bolster cushion printed with a black-and-white cartoon illustration, which I prepared specifically to fit the theme. In full-body shots, it naturally connected my arms to my body, preventing gestures from looking stiff. The other was a woven daisy flower basket used mainly for the single-leg standing pose on the grass. The lightweight basket was easy to hold in one hand, while a few scattered petals balanced the composition's center of gravity.

Interactivity during the shoot was remarkably strong. In one close-up shot, I deliberately reached out to hand a ginkgo leaf toward the lens, using shallow depth of field to blur the foreground leaf and guide visual focus directly to my eyes. This small action tested eye focus, but the photographer timed the shutter perfectly, capturing just the right gaze and atmosphere. Standing on the ginkgo path, the thick layer of fallen leaves provided incredible texture, with orange-yellow and brick-red backgrounds serving as classic complementary colors to my blue-and-white attire.

For the lawn photos, I attempted a single-leg standing pose—a posture requiring balance while managing facial expressions. Fortunately, I felt relaxed that day, and the flower basket and bolster cushion provided excellent visual anchors. This pose effectively showcased leg lines alongside footwear details. For the lower half, I paired thick-soled black loafers with white cotton socks of just the right length. This combination guaranteed warmth during autumn outdoor photography while visually lengthening lower-body proportions. The rubber non-slip soles offered great stability when walking over ginkgo-covered pavement, preventing slips from interrupting the shoot's rhythm.

The wind blew slightly hard that day, which unexpectedly produced dynamic effects. As wind caught the dress, the layers unraveled naturally, capturing dynamic snapshots far more vivid than static standing poses. To catch these wind-blown moments, we used continuous shooting mode, pressing the shutter hundreds of times to select the most natural shots.

Throughout the process, I constantly adjusted angles to find the best synergy between outfit and props. For instance, I experimented with holding the cushion and basket across my chest, cradling them in one arm, or holding them flat with both hands. In one shot, I placed the cushion by my side while holding the basket in the other hand; this asymmetrical composition felt playfully cute under the photographer's lens.

Managing light and shadow was equally vital. While shooting along the ginkgo path, we looked for spots with dappled tree shadows, letting sunlight filter through branch gaps onto my face to form soft, bright patches. This lighting texture added rich narrative depth, feeling far more comfortable than flat direct sunlight. I also want to mention the fabric selection: under natural light, the subtle cotton sheen of the blue-and-white grid looked exquisite without appearing cheap. Combined with the white apron and lace, the overall brightness elevated cleanly. This fresh, vibrant visual tone perfectly matched the energetic mood of a birthday celebration.

Every time I review this photo set, I am reminded of the crunching sound of stepping on ginkgo leaves that afternoon. From concept to execution, the shoot took nearly two hours, with the photographer lying low at a distance to capture candid moments. During post-processing, we agreed not to pursue artificially pale skin or harsh sharpening, deliberately preserving lighting grain to suit the autumn and winter atmosphere. Looking back now, every image encapsulates the relaxed joy of that afternoon. Stepping into this outfit before the camera, I tried to imagine what the character would feel and do in that moment, and I think I found a form of self-expression. Recording such a memorable occasion in my own way is a deeply rewarding experience in itself.
