While organizing my hard drive, I stumbled upon a batch of old character cosplay photos from when I first started playing, which brought back a wave of nostalgia, so I decided to share them. Arknights is a game I've played since the open beta. Although I haven't logged in for a long time due to work, I still feel to this day that the game is very generous. For working adults, you can easily look up walkthrough guides whenever you're stuck, and just leave it on auto-deploy while draining sanity. It offers a relaxed mindset without demanding an exhausting daily grind, which is truly rare. Returning to the photos themselves, since they were taken during my early days, my understanding of costumes and props was still in the exploratory stage. Looking back now, although some details seem a bit unpolished, they captured my greatest enthusiasm at the time. The photos encompass multiple styles: tactical gear equipped with large shields and firearms, staff styles brimming with magic and crystal effects, as well as scenes requiring post-production snowflake or flame effects. To get gear faithful to the settings, I traveled to many places hunting down props—like that massive shield, which was genuinely heavy to carry, alongside various intricate straps and armor pieces that took ages to put on. In post-production, to faithfully recreate the sci-fi and fantasy lighting effects from the original game, I did plenty of experimenting myself, layering floating geometric swords, glowing wings, and halos stroke by stroke. The shooting process was also full of stories. Searching for suitable backdrops, we left footprints across outdoor streets, shutter doors, mall railings, and worn-down stone walls. Passersby often watched with curiosity during the shoots, but thankfully, my photographer and I coordinated with great chemistry every time to find the best angles for Portrait photography. Because these characters belong to the early rosters, their 2D-inspired costume designs boast a strong tactical and sci-fi vibe, emphasizing sharp lines and layering to project a uniquely capable aura. Pairing Stockings with these outfits and platform shoes made the overall body proportions look exceptionally slender. Looking back on these experiences, Arknights cosplay brought me immense joy; it wasn't just about changing clothes for a photo, but bringing that hardcore yet gentle feeling of the game to life.
