This shoot took place at a quaint street-corner café with an open courtyard garden. Sunlight filtered through the foliage onto the white wooden walls and reddish-brown geometric floor tiles, creating natural, dappled leafy shadows that proved ideal for accentuating the rich texture of the deep-toned wardrobe. To faithfully match Saiba Momoi's design, the costume featured a deep navy long-sleeved dress with a crisp white turn-down collar and a pale blue ribbon tie, layered beneath a ruffled white apron. The skirt hem was trimmed with light-blue piping and delicate white lace, accented by white emblems printed across the chest and hemline. The look was coordinated with opaque White stockings (tights) and chunky-soled black Mary Jane shoes.
The prop work and hairstyling were planned with equal attention to detail. The golden-yellow twintail wig was trimmed with blunt-cut straight bangs to preserve the character's iconic 2D anime silhouette. The cat-ear headband and the floating pink halo prop were pre-shaped and reinforced, ensuring sharp, three-dimensional definition even under outdoor natural light. The black cat tail attached at the back was curved carefully so it draped against the body organically whether standing or crouching. Holding a round black serving tray provided a natural resting place for my hands while seamlessly anchoring the maid café setting.
For the first sequence of poses, I chose to lean against the white wooden paneled wall. Shifting my weight onto my right leg with the left leg slightly bent and crossed visually elongated the leg lines while beautifully highlighting the pairing of White stockings and black shoes. Holding the tray at my side, I glanced back over my shoulder into the lens, keeping my gaze luminous and clear with an expression of gentle warmth tinged with subtle, coy aloofness. White snowflake stickers on the windowpanes and ceramic teaware displayed on interior shelves served as charming background accents, infusing the frame with authentic everyday ambiance.
For the second sequence, I attempted a low crouched stance: resting one hand against the wall while leaning forward slightly, casting an upward gaze into the camera. Framing from this lower perspective alongside the floating pink halo prop accentuated the character's playful personality and feline charm. During the shoot, because deep navy fabric can easily lose textural detail under strong direct sunlight, I specifically asked the photographer to lower the exposure compensation slightly to preserve shadow gradations across the skirt folds. In post-production, the color grading was kept bright, fresh, and translucent to prevent the frame from feeling heavy or flat.
In terms of facial management, I avoided overly exaggerated theatrics, relying primarily on subtle micro-expressions to convey the character's state while working in a maid café. Transitioning from standing to crouching, shifting my center of gravity helped refine my posture, ensuring every capture felt relaxed and organic. From preparing the costume to scouting the venue, considerable care went into this official photoshoot. I hope these images fully bring out Saiba Momoi's vibrant, energetic feline spirit.
