The craftsmanship and sheer volume of details in this costume for Furina cosplay and Focalors cosplay from Genshin Impact were certainly no small feat. To recreate that texture of ethereal lightness blended with divine majesty, the preliminary preparations took considerable time. Today, I mainly want to share some shooting insights and styling reflections from this outdoor official photoshoot for this Anime cosplay.

Let's first talk about the wig and makeup, which form the bedrock of the character's atmosphere. The wig itself has a voluminous short-bob base accented with light blue highlights. To ensure the hair could support the feather hair ornaments and metallic halo on the crown, I used pomade and strong-hold hairspray backstage to build up the base, gradually lifting the roots and teasing out layered textures along the flow of the fibers. That curving, cyan-blue strand on top is the true soul of the entire wig; to keep its curved arch from collapsing, a thin wire was inserted inside for structural shaping. For eye makeup, to embody the feel of the Water God cosplay, I wore blue colored contacts, layering pinkish blending at the outer corners of the eyes and intensifying the blush. Because I had to endure a full day of outdoor shooting, I made sure the base foundation and setting powder were rock-solid to prevent perspiration from causing patchy makeup.

Next, looking at the garment itself: this dress is a strapless puff gown featuring light blue patchwork fabric across the bodice, accented dead-center with golden embroidery and deep blue gemstones, complemented by golden chains and a blue bow at the waist. The skirt hem consists of multi-layered sheer tulle transitioning from pure white to light blue, offering a translucent, airy texture. To wear this outfit properly, I did two indoor trial fittings beforehand to test the snugness of the corset waist cinch, avoiding tying it too tightly to impede breathing, yet not loose enough to slip down. The massive white wings prop on the back was a major challenge—given its colossal size, gearing up required an assistant's help to secure it onto my back and shoulders with invisible straps. Because the wings carry weight, my center of gravity naturally tilted forward once they were on; hence, during shooting, I had to consciously engage my core and open up my shoulders to maintain an upright, regal posture.

The shooting location that day was selected at an outdoor site featuring classical European architecture and a lakeside. Although the weather was lovely, the outdoor natural sunlight was somewhat harsh, demanding constant adjustments in poses and angles. To bring out the flowing elegance of the skirt hem and train, I wore white platform high heels. While these shoes nicely elongated leg proportions, the high heels required extreme caution when walking on stone paving or navigating steps. In walking or turning shots, I lightly lifted the hem with my hands, harnessing the breeze to inject dynamic vitality into the frame. On my legs, I accessorized with delicate golden chain leg rings, adding subtle visual layering against bare legs.

Several shots were taken seated on stone pillars, such as those leaning against the staircase. This posture was quite a test of balance: sitting elevated with legs dangling naturally or crossed, my upper torso needed to rotate slightly sideways so that the waistline and the skirt silhouette could be showcased simultaneously before the lens. In terms of gaze, the character of Furina possesses intense theatricality; during interpretation, I alternated between contemplative downcast glances and direct gazes into the camera, striving to convey a character who embodies both divinity and human vulnerability.

To summarize a bit of experience: for an Anime cosplay look with such intricate accessories and a massive skirt, definitely prepare a checklist before heading to an outdoor shoot, inspecting the wing straps, hair accessory clips, and touch-up makeup kit. During shooting, try to pick locations with clean backgrounds and good depth of field to maximally highlight the styling details. I am quite satisfied with the overall ambiance of this set, and I hope it faithfully recreates this blue-and-white visual dream for everyone.
