For this finished shoot of Phrolova from Wuthering Waves, the overall visual keynote was anchored in the absolute collision of red and black. To align with the theme 'Elegy of The Phantom of the Opera', the studio set was constructed around a massive crimson clock face, a black gothic high-backed chair, and a floor carpeted with red roses and spider lilies. I sought to evoke an enigmatic presence suspended in the liminal space between time and death.

Let's talk about the wardrobe first. The costume's design is exceptionally detail-oriented: the bodice features an off-the-shoulder white ruffled neckline, with a crimson ribbon and spider lilies serving as the visual focal point; the lower half pairs with a black-and-blue flared tutu skirt, while the long crimson tulle train trailing behind creates intense dramatic tension under low light. The wig was chosen in a long silver-green braid accented by red floral hair ornaments, establishing a striking complementary color contrast. To enhance dimensional layering, I selected black lace-trimmed Stockings paired with crisscrossed red straps and crimson high heels. This intertwining of red and black elements delivers an immediate, visceral visual impact.

Regarding makeup, I emphasized a porcelain-fair cool base paired with crimson contacts and bold red lips. The eye makeup carried a subtle reddish blend to mirror the dangerous allure and tragic aesthetics inherent to the character. Throughout the shoot, I continuously channeled the quote through body language: 'I will follow death, masking terror with pleasure, trading the future to reclaim the past.' For instance, sitting on the black throne, my hand gently brushed the crimson blossoms, or my fingers curved delicately while my gaze radiated a languid, detached aloofness. Under the photographer's lens, these minute gestures were magnified into the true soul of each composition.

The shooting process heavily tested our lighting orchestration. Because the primary backdrop light source was the crimson clock face, excessive frontal illumination would wash out the red atmospheric mood; insufficient light, however, left the facial features buried in murky shadow. After endless calibration in the studio, we used a softbox with flags so the light fell exclusively across my face and upper bodice, allowing the skirt and legs below to remain veiled in subtle chiaroscuro. This ensured crisp facial expressions while preserving the overarching mystique.

For pose choreography—such as the sequence seated on the chair—I shifted my weight onto one leg while lifting the other slightly, cleanly displaying the red straps and the sleek lines of the Stockings. The arm movements were kept fluid and elongated, allowing the crimson sleeves to billow weightlessly. The kneeling shot on the floor was meant to capture a fragile yet untouchable stance, with the voluminous skirt fanning out across fallen rose petals to provide striking visual elongation.

Whenever I portray such roles, the seamless integration of costume, props, and set design is paramount. The wig must be combed impeccably smooth, and the floral ornaments need precise placement. While the stockings and straps look gorgeous, wearing them for extended hours causes pressure marks; I loosened and adjusted them during breaks to preserve skin texture for subsequent takes. These behind-the-scenes preparations are an inseparable part of cosplay itself.

The shoot stretched from broad daylight into the dead of night, and seeing the final deliverables made every ounce of exhaustion worthwhile. The red-and-black visual language concretized abstract concepts like time, mortality, and rebirth. Being able to interpret such a captivating character in my own way and capture these frames is a deeply rewarding joy. I hope these photos allow everyone to feel her original atmosphere.
