This photoshoot features Yuitsuka Inori from Kung Fu Narcissus. From confirming the character to actual shooting, the process involved considerable detail polishing and makeup/styling adjustments. The mint-green outfit I wore merges design and texture seamlessly, balancing the dignity of collar frog buttons and pearl decorations with the airiness of sheer fluttering sleeves and detached arm sleeves. During cosplay preparation, the greatest challenge was keeping these accessories secure in outdoor settings—for instance, I reinforced the 3D white floral embellishment on the chest in advance to prevent it from falling off during the shoot.
For the shooting environment, we specifically chose a bank near the water's edge, where direct sunlight creating sparkling reflections beautifully echoed the character's temperament. Sunlight was intense on shooting day, with water reflections creating dense circular bokeh flares in the lens; managing this high-key glow truly tested the photographer's exposure control. To prevent harsh light from washing out depth, I coordinated with the photographer across several positions to find angles that leveraged reflections without appearing overly glaring. For the shots crouching near the water touching the lake surface, I tested water depth multiple times so ripples would disperse naturally without soaking my sleeve covers. The angle facing away from the water with arms wide open is my absolute favorite—it felt as if my whole body opened up to nature.
Although composed in front of the lens, I often squinted due to blinding sunlight. When we wanted softer lighting, the photographer instructed me to turn slightly backlight, leveraging shadows from my hair and forehead to transition facial lighting contrast. Waterside photography using natural outdoor lighting heavily impacts output quality; thankfully, cloud cover cooperated, with occasional thin clouds softening the light. I had to maintain body posture continuously before the camera; though lightweight sleeve covers needed extra fastening, the overall fit remained sleek. Adding a note on costume craftsmanship: fine sequins woven into the fabric produced subtle sparkling glints under noon sunlight, creating a delicate resonance with shimmering lake ripples behind me. Furthermore, head hairpieces were secured tightly with hairclips, as frequent head-tilting poses would cause heavy accessories to slide down and disrupt character composure.
During Photography post-processing, I deliberately lowered contrast to keep greens and sky blues within a luminous, translucent range, adding cinematic letterboxing to focus viewer attention on postures and expressions. Given the costume's rich accessory layers, controlling depth of field was crucial. Beyond wide and mid shots, I specifically captured upper-body close-ups to showcase craftsmanship during layout editing. As a teaser, though few in number, these shots capture the essence of my intended mood. Whether stretching upward toward sunlight or reflecting shimmering lake waves, this experience proved deeply memorable. Watching my envisioned concepts come to life frame by frame made all preparation worthwhile. Reviewing my performance after shooting this Yuitsuka Inori cosplay teaser, I noticed poses like opening my arms would look even more graceful with a straighter back.
