[Arturia cosplay] Arknights Virtuosa: Whispers in Gothic Melody

This Virtuosa styling for Arturia took a great deal of thought and effort, from garment patterning to prop fabrication. The overall attire is a Gothic style black lace paneled gown, layering translucent tulle with intricate pleats on the upper bodice, finished with a lace stand collar and a pleated skirt hem edged in delicate lace. To embody the character's presence, I paired it with over-the-elbow black gloves, an armlet on the right arm, and an eye-totem brooch accented with gold tassels pinned to the chest. The branch-like headdress and cascading black beaded chains were custom-made specifically to evoke that mysterious aura straight from the character design.

In terms of props, the black cello in my left hand was the centerpiece of the shoot. The instrument body features hollowed-out carvings, strung with four golden strings and fitted with golden tuning pegs, and stamped at the base with a golden crescent moon and ring insignia. Even with weight-reduction modifications for photography, holding it up for extended periods required substantial physical effort—especially while coordinating the long bow in my right hand to strike playing or conducting poses. We constantly fine-tuned the tilt angle during shooting to ensure both the instrument's silhouette and its golden accents were captured clearly without letting my arms appear rigid.

For makeup, deeper red and dark eyeshadow sculpted the eye contours, paired with a natural muted red lip tone. Combined with straight black bangs, face-framing hime side locks, and the dark horns atop my head, the facial expression took on a cool, poised detachment. The set was constructed with a cool blue-and-white palette, draped in shimmering sheer bead curtains, carpeted with white floral clusters and lace fabric, and accented with antique gold ornaments. Under this cool-toned lighting, the lace textures of the black gown and the subtle sheer qualities of the tulle were rendered with absolute clarity.

Throughout the shoot, photographer Damutouyu provided valuable creative direction on lighting and composition, makeup artist tanko ensured the base and eye makeup stayed flawless, and Xiangshan offered abundant narrative framing and posing references that grounded the entire visual story. We tested multiple angles to hold both the cello and the bow steadily while keeping the skirt draped gracefully in motion. The resulting dark and lavish atmosphere hit the mark, and the contrast between the cool lighting and dark garments turned out just as envisioned. Reviewing the raw shots, I noticed my arm lines could use some toning—next time I tackle a shoot that requires holding heavy props aloft for hours, I will definitely build up my stamina beforehand. Overall, it was a truly immersive cosplay experience.
