Crafting the costume and finalizing the overall styling for Nilou required a considerable investment of time, demanding hands-on dedication from fabric sourcing to accessory assembly. This Genshin Impact design relies on a primary blue-and-white colorway, enriched with generous gold piping and geometric motifs. The cropped top exposes the midriff with a graceful, fluid drape. To ensure the oversized metallic choker and ornate headdress looked sophisticated rather than cheap, I deliberately chose brushed gold rigid materials. The composite horns and crown carried substantial weight, requiring over a dozen bobby pins crisscrossed firmly to remain rock-solid throughout the shoot. The massive sapphire gemstone pendant at the chest served as the primary visual anchor, softly clinking against the gold chains and geometric accents with every step.
For the wig, I selected a vibrant crimson red with high color saturation, cutting precise blunt bangs to capture the character's signature silhouette. In terms of makeup, bright blue contact lenses were essential to mirror the attire and eye color. The eye look featured contoured orbital depth and elongated winged eyeliner to create piercing dimension, finished over a pristine, porcelain base. To inject an unexpected chromatic contrast, I applied black nail polish, adding a cool, striking accent whenever my hands moved into frame.
The opening close-up adopted a diagonal composition, with my head subtly bowed, gazing into the lens with quiet detachment while resting my fingertips lightly over the chest sapphire. To accentuate the intricate craft of the crown and choker, we shot under soft, diffuse light to prevent specular blowouts across the gold filigree while preserving a radiant catchlight in the eyes. The black manicure forged an eye-catching juxtaposition in this tight portrait, and the curve of my fingers was refined through repeated adjustments to maintain organic elegance.
The second frame captured an outdoor full-body composition framed against open skies and lush foliage bathed in daylight. Because the costume leaves the entire waist bare, strict posture and body conditioning were maintained prior to the shoot. For the stance, my legs were angled slightly while my fingertips pinched the sheer white silk drapery on both sides. The cyan-hemmed drapes billowed organically in the summer breeze, creating an airy, weightless texture. The deep navy waist bow and large sapphire cabochon filled the negative space around the hip, anchoring the entire silhouette in harmonious balance.
Shooting outdoors under natural daylight presented key hurdles regarding sun angles and harsh metallic reflections. I had the photographer prioritize ambient, diffuse lighting beneath tree canopies to avoid heavy facial cast shadows. The cropped bodice and openwork sleeve attachments also limited the range of dynamic motion, as exaggerated poses could easily distort the garment's fit; hence, we favored fluid, poised poses that channeled gentle grace.
