Today I finally finished retouching this official March 7th set from Honkai: Star Rail, and I'm really pleased with the overall result (March 7th cosplay). Looking back at the shoot, so many details are worth recording. Preparing for this cosplay took quite some time, especially organizing the wig and costume. The wig features pink locks blended with blue highlights, requiring meticulous brushing and styling, as any messiness ruins that airy, spirited bounce. For the outfit, the layered blue-and-white dress is rich in detail—especially the snowflake ornament on the chest and the sheer purple puff sleeves, making the whole silhouette feel wonderfully light. The navy pleated skirt paired with over-the-knee White stockings, complete with the canonical thigh cutout and ribbon bow design, along with black leather shoes, brought the entire ensemble's details together seamlessly.
The location on the day was an outdoor area with a lovely courtyard garden aesthetic. Red brick walls, soft beige facades, lush greenery, and blossoming blue flowers provided a rich natural backdrop for the composition. The ambient natural light was gentle and diffused, ideal for an outdoor shoot. To match the character setting, I specifically brought along a pastel-blue mini digital camera as a prop.
The shooting process was quite an endurance test of stamina and facial expression management. I explored diverse postures: standing while making hand gestures, sitting on steps pretending to snap a selfie, or resting my chin in my hands on a wrought-iron patio chair. To project the character's lively, playful nature, I continuously refined my gaze and facial expressions. The eyes needed radiant sparkle, and the corners of my lips maintained an effortless, natural curve—neither too stiff nor overly exaggerated. The photographer also offered wonderful compositional guidance, such as leveraging the leading lines of the walls or using foreground blossoms to add depth and dimensionality to the frame.
Being outdoors, the natural lighting shifted rapidly, requiring constant positional adjustments to avoid harsh direct sun and harness soft diffuse light for clean, glowing skin tones. In post-processing, I preserved the natural textures and focused on color harmony to evoke a fresh, crisp atmosphere. Rather than over-smoothing the skin, I retained garment textures and organic chiaroscuro highlights. To unify the blue-and-white palette, I specifically calibrated the green tones of the plants and the blue hues of the blossoms, ensuring the entire frame looked gentle, pure, and clean.
From shooting to post-processing, this set took immense dedication, but seeing March 7th's vibrant, high-energy spirit shine through the final cuts made every bit of effort worthwhile. Every character brought to life feels like a brand-new adventure. I always summarize my experiences in costume tailoring, props, and pose choreography. March 7th naturally embodies an infectious, sunny radiance. When preparing this costume, I spent a lot of thought on how to convey that energy through body language. Gestures like holding up the camera or flashing a peace sign were meant to make the images feel alive and spontaneous rather than purely staged. Outdoor shoots are always full of variables—shifting weather, moving foot traffic—demanding quick adaptation.
