[Raiden Shogun Cosplay] The Collision of Gothic Dark Style and Succubus Elements

This shoot of Raiden Shogun's Gothic style can be considered an attempt to break stereotypical impressions. Many players' perception of the character often stays within the sacred and majestic image of a deity, but I decided this time to combine this character with dark Gothic and 'succubus' elements to seek a visual contrast of beauty. Since the post mentioned that 'horizontal composition is a rebellion against the vertical screen era,' as a model, the vertical composition of this shoot actually focuses more sharply on the figure's overall atmosphere, letting the viewer's gaze follow the body curves and the depth of the scene all the way down.

Let's talk about the makeup and styling first. The most core visual anchor of this look is the purple-toned long curly wig. Its curls are very pronounced with a matte texture. To restore the hair color from the original setting, I additionally added several streaks of deep purple highlights at the hair tips and sides. Paired with the blue bow hair accessory and red flower accessory on top, it looks gorgeous and highly layered. For the makeup, instead of adopting a conventional cold and hard feeling, I incorporated a touch of red-toned eyeshadow to echo the bright red bow at the chest of the outfit; the eyeliner was deliberately elongated and flicked upward to add a bit of charming sharpness. The lip makeup was made with a glossy dark red to match the overall Gothic atmosphere.

Moving on to the coordination of the costume and accessories, the main piece of this attire is a tight-fitting black dress tailored tightly to fit the figure. The透视 sheer gauze on the upper body and the hollow-out design at the collarbone, combined with the gemstone and red-trimmed blue-base bow on the chest, center the visual focus on the torso section almost instantly. Heavy silver iron chains drape all around the scene; I intentionally interweaved my left arm with one of the chains, hinting at the tension of a 'bound deity' or self-confinement. On the left and right sides of the foreground, two vintage carved golden picture frames were placed, paired with purple trailing floral vines of the same color palette as the wig, forming an excellent foreground frame that neatly locks the character right in the center of the image. Furthermore, props like a skull, a metal candlestick, and a red and blue flower bouquet were all included to enhance the sense of mystery and ritual.

In terms of photography technique and light effects, we utilized a dual-light setup this time. The main light hit down from the front-left upper angle, focusing on brightening the face, the red bow on the chest, and the legs, making the skin texture look even and translucent. The backlight focused on environmental rendering, outlining the rim edges of the wig and the transparency of the black gauze. Paired with the darker studio environment, the color saturation was deliberately turned down, preserving the primary black and purple tones while making the colors at the highlights jump out more. During the shoot, I was constantly adjusting my sitting posture—it could neither look overly rigid, destroying the lazy feel of the succubus setting, nor too scattered, losing the aura inherent to Raiden Shogun. The height of my raised arm, the crossing angle of my legs, and even the angle of my gaze toward the camera were tested several times, all to present a moment where 'every second is worth documenting.' I believe that through the forced focusing method of a vertical composition, drawing the character out of a grand world setting and placing her in such a mysterious, enclosed environment fits the interpretation of this outfit perfectly.
