This time, I bring you a set of Tushan Susu's outdoor cosplay photoshoots. The shooting location was selected next to a small woods with dense green grass and a few bright yellow flowers. Between outdoor shoots and studio shoots, I personally always prefer the outdoors, because the changes in natural light at different times of the day, as well as living elements like wind and plants, inject a lot of unexpected vivid atmosphere into the frame.

Regarding the preparation for this character, I actually spent quite a bit of thought on the hair and makeup styling. To stay close to the character's pure and agile traits, the wig was deliberately trimmed for the length of the bangs and sideburns on both sides, allowing the hairstyle to better contour the facial shape. In terms of eye makeup, since green is the visual anchor of the entire look, I picked a pair of green colored contact lenses with good transparency and comfort, paired with a small-area blending of pink-orange toned eyeshadow. This can soften the sharpness around the eyes, making the gaze look clearer and more harmless. The costume features a pink cross-collar top paired with a white wide-sleeved coat, and the waist belt details are also very rich, where the cyan-green wave patterns on it echo the color of the grass. Considering that outdoor shooting requires frequent movement and sitting down, the skirt hem was deliberately styled to be relatively loose and natural. The plush fox ears on the head are the soul of the entire look, featuring a moderate size and a strong sense of hair flow, and putting them on feels like instantly channeling the character's emotions.

This shoot was a mutual collaboration with photographer @魔法书. We scheduled it around 4 PM, a time when the natural light had already faded from the intense and piercing glare of midday, turning into a soft side light with a touch of warmth. Throughout the shoot, we used almost no extra flash, relying entirely on the camera's dynamic range and ambient light to hold out, so the light and shadow transitions in the finished prints are extremely delicate. Actually, the biggest challenge in outdoor photography is controlling variables; for example, the wind will blow hair strands from time to time to block the eyes, or grass tips will run in front of the lens to affect the composition. The photographer was exceptionally patient, constantly guiding me to adjust my center of gravity and sitting posture to look for the most comfortable and photogenic angles.

These three finished photos everyone sees were actually completed within the same narrow area. In the first picture, I sit sideways in the grass, propping my chin up with one hand and throwing my gaze outside the frame—this posture can showcase the character's focus and playfulness through the profile lines; in the second picture, after tidying up my collar, I cross my hands flat in front of my chest, staring straight into the lens, wanting to convey a gentle, quiet emotional atmosphere; the third picture adds some interactive feel, where I reach out to touch those slender yellow flower stems nearby, and the photographer accurately captured the moment before my fingertips made contact. Those tall flowers in the frame beautifully elongate the overall visual depth, preventing the composition from looking too flat.

Because of the blessing of natural vegetation and soft lighting, the overall atmosphere of this photoset looks very translucent and natural. Of course, we also encountered some small troubles during the shooting process, like quite a few flying insects and mosquitoes in the grass. To maintain natural expressions and movements, I could only do my best to stay still to coordinate with the shutter. However, when finally seeing that greenness carrying the breath of damp earth and the perfectly fitting soft light and shadow in the finished photos, I felt all those little hardships were deeply worthwhile. As a coser who frequently activities in studios normally, taking the heart to do an outdoor shoot under suitable seasons and lighting conditions to perceive and restore that natural purity of the character brings a complete sense of accomplishment. Lastly, my gratitude still goes out to the photographer who consistently controlled the light and shadow behind the camera position, helping me restore the colors of this outfit so comfortably under a touch of setting sun in this beautiful 2D project.
