[Varesa Cosplay] Genshin Impact Natlan's Nocturne, Little Horns in a Pink Fantasy

This time, I'm sharing the official photoshoot for Varesa's "Nocturne of the Far North" look from Genshin Impact. The initial vision for the entire shoot was to present imagery with a playful and dreamy feel. Thus, during early planning, the set was specifically chosen in a greenhouse setting with pink tones, accessorized with super-sweet props like plush toys and cream cakes, hoping to echo the character's lively, agile, yet refined nature.

Recreating the outfit actually took a lot of effort. The iconic curved horns on top of the head needed to balance being lightweight with structural form; internal filling support made wearing them comfortable, and secured with a headband, they didn't get messy at all even during large movements while shooting. The hair color is smoky pink with mint green highlights, and braiding the twin braids consumed a lot of time and patience, but the rich, full effect and the visual gradient transition at the ends truly injected a soul into the character. The white fluffy collar at the neckline feels soft and squishy, serving to flatter the neck and shoulder lines while giving the overall look a light, layered feel.

The primary material for the costume is glossy black leather, paired with cyan, red, and gold bow badge decorations on the chest, grounding the visual center of gravity for the upper body nicely. The off-white chunky knit arm warmers layered on the arms form a striking material contrast with the cropped midriff top, and the texture of the thick yarn adds a touch of everyday life to the character. The lower half features a black pleated miniskirt paired with a wide red belt; the belt's metallic geometric buckle is a crucial detail, while the small colorful ribbon dangling below echoes the original character design very well.

The leg decorations are a major highlight of this look: the plush pink thigh ring on the left thigh combines with white over-the-knee socks, which feature red cross patches and wavy stripes sewn on. Paired with black ankle boots, the overall color contrast and mobility reached a great state. The nails were deliberately painted mint green to match the hair highlights, maintaining color consistency during close-up shots of extending arms or holding the cake.

Capturing dynamic motion was the toughest part of this studio photoshoot. Because there were many props and delicate decorations, photographer Tudou and I needed to try as many camera angles and poses as possible within a limited movement area. The standing pose with both hands behind the head in the third photo showcases the costume tailoring and leg lines well, whereas kneeling or sitting poses better convey the character's sweetness and relaxed charm. Although the shoot required constantly adjusting hair accessories and smoothing out outfit creases, seeing the light and shadow effects hitting the pink drapes in the final photos, along with the makeup blending into the environment, made it all feel completely worth it.

Finally, to be frank, the shoes didn't achieve 100% accuracy, which is the only minor regret in this work—something I previously clarified in my post. However, shooting and post-processing are inherently processes of making trade-offs and trying one's best. Completing a full roleplay using available materials and current ideas is something I thoroughly enjoyed. Experiencing Varesa's vitality and playfulness under warm light in this pink setting, I hope this photo set conveys that joy to everyone who sees it.
