[Momonoka cosplay] Retro British Afternoon Tea in Arknights

For today's Momonoka outfit, the overall aesthetic leans towards a retro British cafe style. For the wig, I specifically chose one with a pink-orange gradient; the bangs were trimmed naturally, and both sides were curled with a curling iron so the ends could rest naturally on my shoulders. The large, dark-brown velvet bow on top of the head is the visual centerpiece of the entire look, reinforced inside to maintain its crisp, structured shape. In terms of clothing, the reddish-brown plaid sleeveless vest is paired with a white ruffled stand-collar shirt, layered with a small black necktie at the collar, while a massive burgundy velvet bow across the chest enhances the dimensional depth. Since the character has elf ears, I specially prepared matching pointed ear props and paid close attention to camera angles throughout the shoot to avoid revealing visible seams.

The shooting location was set in a cafe with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, dominated by natural wood and warm yellow tones. Regarding lighting, the photographer had me stay close to the windows to make the most of the diffuse natural light. The rim lighting beautifully outlined the soft, fluffy texture of the wig while accentuating the rich, soft weight of the velvet fabric. The cup of coffee with latte art and the plated slice of cake on the table served not just as shooting props, but perfectly matched the theme of having coffee together. As a collaborative shoot, we communicated beforehand about capturing a lazy afternoon tea atmosphere. The photographer controlled the texture and tone with exquisite finesse, avoiding exaggerated saturation to preserve warm tones and realistic material textures.

Posing during the shoot required overcoming a few physical quirks—such as wearing the brown striped jacket half-off the shoulders. To keep the movements from looking stiff, I leaned my center of gravity slightly forward, raising a hand in an inviting or greeting gesture for the first shot, and resting my chin in my hand for the other two, letting my gaze drift slightly or lock onto the lens. This relaxed state felt far more engaging than overly deliberate posing. For the makeup, I steered clear of heavy, vibrant colors, aiming instead for a clean, translucent base. The focus was placed on the red contact lenses and deepening the outer corners of the eyes, paired with a generous sweep of pink-orange blush to cultivate the ambient mood.

This photo set was actually shot a while ago. Delayed by various commitments, I never got around to sorting and editing the photos until today, when I finally made up my mind to compile this Momonoka set. Looking through these detail-rich shots, that relaxed, joyful feeling came rushing right back. From outfit styling and prop preparation to capturing the on-site light, the accumulation of every step brings the final vision to life. Moving forward, I want to keep up this momentum, stop procrastinating, treat every shutter release with care, and turn even more creative concepts into reality.
