The inspiration for shooting this custom design cosplay angel version of Robin comes from the pure and ethereal aura of this character in Honkai: Star Rail. I've always felt Robin's setting carries an all-encompassing gentleness, so I specifically chose a ballgown dress with a blue-and-white gradient and watercolor texture, paired with massive white-to-purple gradient angel wings, attempting to visually materialize this sense of ethereality.

This photo set was shot outdoors during convention photography. On the day of the shoot, outdoor light was abundant, with high-intensity natural light and backlighting perfectly fitting the high-key visual tone required for the Angel cosplay theme. I tilted my head up, closed my eyes, and felt the breeze softly brush past the feathers—in that moment, I truly felt as if I found a subtle connection between the character and myself. To give the skirt hem more breathability, I deliberately controlled my steps and rotation speed during the spinning action in the third photo. The photographer captured the fluttering moment of the skirt, which also beautifully displayed waistline and leg contours, making me very satisfied with the tailoring of this custom design cosplay.

During location shooting, crowds at the anime convention were actually dense, but immense credit goes to the photographer. Using a large aperture and soft focus techniques, he blurred background crowds into soft color blocks. As a result, even in noisy surroundings, the frame preserved an isolated sense of purity and sanctity. This contrast actually aligns well with Robin's role in the story—surrounded by complex environments, yet maintaining steadfast faith and a gentle heart inside.

Every time I put on this costume, I feel like I'm physically carrying real weight. The wing props are actually quite heavy; to display the tension of fully spread wings, I needed to keep my posture stretched. This required not only physical endurance, but strict expression control to avoid showing fatigue. For instance, the eye-closed praying pose in image one looks effortless, but maintaining body stability while keeping that serene expression took many repeated attempts before capturing the optimal state.

I also made fine adjustments in details. For example, for the wig color, I selected a very pale light blue-violet that looks more like a color from a dream rather than a purely vibrant real-world shade. Regarding accessories, the halo on top of the head and the chain necklace around the neck were chosen from lightweight materials to avoid stealing the show, as the true main characters of this styling are the wings and skirt hem.

The fun of real-location shooting lies in these unknowns—weather, lighting, and reactions from passersby all become part of the photos. During outdoor shooting, onlookers frequently stopped to admire and praise this costume, and such interactions gave me more confidence and immersion to interpret this character. However, to maintain the visual purity of the frame, we eventually moved to the edge of the venue, utilizing low-angle shots to avoid ground clutter and crowds.

In terms of post-processing, the photographer and I agreed not to apply heavy, plastic-like skin smoothing, but rather preserve the realistic texture of feathers and the translucency of the skirt mesh, combined with subtle highlight overexposure to make the photos look bathed in heavenly light. This editing philosophy of restoring natural light and shadow reflects the heart and dedication behind cosplay far better than software effects.

Overall, this custom design cosplay of Robin from Honkai: Star Rail was a deeply dedicated endeavor. It isn't just a simple costume swap, but an effort to build a story belonging to the character and this sky through scenery, attire, photography, and post-processing.
