After deciding to cosplay this character, the first challenge was trimming the wig and positioning the hairstyle. This look features short light purple hair; styling the textured bangs required immense patience to maintain an airy feel while allowing dreamy gradient layers to show under light from different angles. During trimming, adjustments had to be made repeatedly according to the character's head-to-body proportions to avoid looking overly top-heavy once the headpiece was attached. The direction of the hair strands also required multiple combings and styling to achieve this effortlessly piecey, Japanese-style textured hair look that is actually meticulously managed.
For makeup, to match the character's ethereal vibe, I chose purplish-red contact lenses as the visual focal point in this Anime-style makeup and styling. For eye makeup, the highlight area was reduced to focus on soft blending, giving my gaze a gentler feel. Blush was swept broadly under the eyes in a dusty pink shade fitting the character's temperament, creating a slightly flushed, youthful rosy complexion. For lips, a rose-pink with a natural glossy texture was used without heavily defining the lip line, softening the edges to make the overall facial aura feel gentle and approachable.
The costume details were also a highlight of this photoshoot. The white and purple color-blocked dress features an off-the-shoulder design, complemented by a snug purple high-neck collar at the neck adorned with pearls and diamond gem decorations. Because of this tight neck-hugging design, extra attention to comfort was needed during wear. The 3D floral ornaments across the chest, composed of pink, purple, and blue hues, actually required a lot of time in manual assembly to guarantee 3D structure that wouldn't deform with movement. The asymmetrical arm sleeves on both sides are also very distinctive—purple base with white stripes on the left, and white base with purple knots on the right—along with massive bow decorations, presenting a exquisitely balanced asymmetry.
In overall styling pairing, the elf ear style is an indispensable soul element. When wearing them, the positioning of the ear hooks needed careful adjustment to ensure they blended naturally into the hair strands from both side and front angles. The dark thin chains and pink floral decorations on the headband, combined with the slightly layered bangs, together built up rich visual layers. The semi-transparent butterfly with a fluorescent purple effect in the upper left of the frame was a visual touch I deliberately planned, serving as an accent during post-editing, though its position and direction had to be predetermined during shooting to avoid looking out of place.
During shooting, considering the character has many accessories and outfit highlights concentrated around the neckline and upper body, the camera angle was chosen as a slightly high-angle close-up. This angle highlights the eye makeup and headpiece details exceptionally well while extending the neck line nicely. Although this composition sacrificed full-body display, it effectively avoided empty skirt areas in post-processing, locking visual focus entirely on the face and chest floral decorations. Combined with a high-contrast black background and strong frontal fill light, the subject's highlights were rendered bright and luminous, evoking a sense of translucency as if floating in an endless void. Lighting demands were quite high for this shoot; slight errors would cause facial dimness or harsh hair glare, but luckily the final presentation met expectations in this Casual cosplay routine. Cosplaying Castorice was a comprehensive test of detail management—from wig trimming to makeup clarity, accessory fit to lighting coordination—allowing me to learn many new experiences.
