Standing in the light and shadows of the exhibition hall transformed into Yaoyao Princess, under the lens of photographer Yuhua, I became the true \"7th divine equipment\" from that running joke in the game. As my main hero, being able to personally recreate this character filled me with anticipation from preparation all the way to on-site shooting.
The exhibition space was huge, with a mesh steel frame structure overhead and neat rows of ceiling lights, while the floor reflected surrounding people walking by and fill lights. Being in such a slightly noisy backdrop actually made this forest-element outfit stand out even more. To match the character's nimble spirit, the wig was specially customized with a light pink twin-braid look, and the deer antlers and beast ears atop my head were painted with a pink-to-white gradient. To fit that natural yet playful vibe, the makeup emphasized blue-violet eye makeup transitioned with orange-pink eyeshadow and blush, creating a warm and delicate overall feel.
The costume details were executed very well. The upper body features a white crop top paired with brown straps displaying geometric cross elements, along with a white plush shoulder piece on the left shoulder that enriches front-to-back layering significantly. Paired further with a purple cape over the shoulders, the color contrast is very striking. The most unique item in this outfit is the color-blocked boots on my feet—thick brown soles paired with dark blue-green plush leg warmers, adding a touch of wildness without losing the character's cute vibe.
As for the wooden staff, it was truly the soul of this entire look. Retaining the natural branch angles of a large tree fork, it was wrapped in bright blue leaf decorations that refracted lovely glimmers under convention lights. Holding the staff gave it a solid, weighty feel in my hand, adding extra tactile depth to this photography session. Yuhua was exceptional at capturing dynamic motion during convention photography—not only asking me to try sitting on a high stool to elongate leg lines for a relaxed feel, but also having me balance on one leg without support. The moment the cape swept open, the character's ethereal flow was perfectly captured.
The post-processing color grading was also refined through repeated communication with Yuhua. We ultimately decided to retain the cool-gray background tones of the large venue while preserving smooth skin texture and the high-saturation contrast among the brown, white, blue, and purple of the clothing. This kept the frame from looking cluttered while making the character stand out three-dimensionally. This shoot was not merely a simple photo session, but a heartfelt restoration of my main hero. Looking at myself in the photographer's lens, I felt that all the preparation was completely worth it.
