This time, I wore the Robin SP Swimwear outfit from Manjiong. My first impression upon receiving it was its fantastic cost-effectiveness—under 300 RMB with an add-on option for ear feathers, and crucially, it was in stock without production waiting times, which is vital during the summer peak. The accessories are top-notch; all the metal necklaces and bracelets have a premium tactile feel, catching the light wonderfully under the sun.
However, in actual practice, there are several key details anyone planning to enter the water should know. First, the anklets and thigh straps are quite scratchy against the skin. Having rather sensitive skin, wearing them tied tightly all afternoon left red marks; while focused on posing during shooting I barely noticed, but peeling them off afterwards was genuinely stinging. I recommend anyone wearing this to line them with clear tape underneath or wear leg sleeves as a cushion.
Second, the pair of ear feathers arrived a bit smudged. I suspect dust accumulated from sitting in the warehouse for a while, though wiping them down quickly cleaned them up without compromising their texture. Finally came the biggest pitfall: the orange flower at the waist. Being impatient, I didn't read the product details page—which actually stated the flower would bleed color in water—and blindly rushed to pay the balance. As a result, after shooting two rounds in the water, the white safety shorts and sheer tulle skirt were unmistakably stained orange-red.
To be fair, I'm not here to nitpick or complain about the vendor, especially since the product page explicitly marked it as beachwear. I just want to use my lesson to caution fellow cosplayers who might overlook the details page like me: definitely remove the flower before stepping into water, or avoid deep water altogether. Also, after the shorts got stained, I soaked them in cold water and dish soap for a while, which lifted some color, but faint stains remained—so exercise caution before getting submerged.
Color bleeding aside, the outfit itself looks genuinely stunning under sunlight reflecting over shimmering water ripples. The white-and-blue palette combined with starfish embroidery makes for gorgeous poolside shots. The glowing halo sat very securely as well; having an internal wire frame made it vastly more comfortable than those relying solely on hair clips.
We actually prepared two cameras on the day of the shoot, but the color discrepancies between them were noticeable. In terms of color temperature fidelity, the raw photo that looked closest to the fabric's true texture and colors to the naked eye was photo four—the one where I'm kneeling by the poolside—which has a soft, gentle warmth overall.
All in all, considering its overall performance, achieving this level of accessory detail in the 200-RMB price range is quite impressive. Those minor quirks can easily be avoided with proper preparation, and the staining issue was my own carelessness in skipping the product description.
