[Firefly cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail Spring outdoor photoshoot: Wandering the blooming sea of flowers

This shoot for Firefly's Spring Letters concept was staged outdoors beside a blooming sea of flowers and rustic bamboo fences. For the outfit, I wore the character's long-sleeved white collared shirt and dark plaid pleated skirt, accented at the chest with a teal ribbon tie and a golden brooch. To complement the spring outdoor atmosphere, the lower half was paired with over-the-knee White stockings and black loafers, slinging a vintage brown leather satchel over my shoulder as a key prop. The shirt fabric is airy and lightweight, letting the cuffs flutter gently in the sunlight breeze, while the pleated skirt had an impeccable drape that flared into gorgeous lines when spinning.

The wig featured a silver-white foundation with mint green dip-dye highlights, boasting crisp layering but tangling very easily. The biggest hurdle during an outdoor shoot is always the wind: a single gust would whip long strands across my face or catch them on the bamboo stalks, so I spent nearly every break combing through hair. To make the violet eyes pop, I wore purplish-pink contact lenses, accentuated the eye makeup with defined lashes and eyeliner, and dotted on a delicate beauty mark beneath the eye. The base makeup was kept dewy and sheer, paired with a noticeable flush of blush for healthy vitality, achieving a refined yet effortless glow.

The sun was blazing that day, creating intense highlights across the floral fields and white blouse. Posing required constant micro-adjustments of my facial angle to prevent squinting or blowing out highlights under direct light. The shot in Photo 3—sitting on the ground tucking hair behind my ear with both hands—was actually a candid snap when I crouched down to rest from exhaustion. Worried about wardrobe exposure while sitting curbside, I placed a cute capybara cartoon sticker over the skirt hem in post, which added an endearing touch. Walking outdoors in White stockings and loafers for hours made my feet warm and tired, but seeing how soft and flattering the leg lines looked embraced by hosiery and natural light made every bit of effort worthwhile.

From the standpoint of Anime-style photography, flower fields can easily look visually cluttered. Firefly's palette of white, slate gray, and mint green anchored the scene against background pops of pink and orange petals, keeping viewer focus squarely on the character. The sunlight around 3 to 4 PM turned golden; shooting backlit cast an ethereal rim glow along the outer edges of the hair, perfectly harmonizing with the warm, dreamy theme of a spring letter. During color grading, I preserved the warm ambient sunlight and gently lowered green saturation, giving the entire set a crisp, translucent Japanese aesthetic.

Cosplaying Firefly was a truly joyful experience—much like that little cat radio mentioned in the caption, I hope everyone viewing this set discovers a spark of joy today. Firefly in Honkai: Star Rail carries a distinct blend of tenderness and resolve; I did my utmost to translate that essence into reality, freezing the romance of spring and the beauty of flowers through the camera. Every outdoor shoot is an intimate dialogue with the character—from costume prep to final frames, each step brought its challenges, yet made me treasure the craft of cosplay even more.
