[Shirou Emiya cosplay] Oath Under Snow: The Unyielding Blade Defying Fate

Sharing this set of circular arena convention photos for Shirou Emiya from Oath Under Snow. To faithfully recreate the character, I spent three full hours prepping hair and makeup. The red wig took nearly half a bottle of styling spray to achieve a messily textured yet polished silhouette. The red headband and trailing fabric ties were also adjusted individually so they wouldn't completely block my line of sight when tilting my head downward. The costume is a form-fitting black design detailed with white spiderweb patterns; it hugs the body so tightly that I barely dared to eat, and even slight bending felt constricting, especially the structured high collar that significantly restricted neck rotation. The twin blade props were much heavier in hand than they looked; holding forceful slashing postures put considerable strain on my wrists. On the day of the shoot, we worked in a circular venue reminiscent of an exhibition hall, where orderly background lights provided fantastic depth of field. Photographer Wakaba was exceptionally patient. To capture that resolute, grim intensity in the gaze, I had to keep an unblinking focus on the lens; the heavy eye makeup combined with red contact lenses made my eyes water whenever a breeze drifted by, requiring repeated resets. The raised-leg stance in photo three might look effortless, but it demanded intense core stability to balance steadily amidst the constriction of the props and tight suit while maintaining an upright posture, taking several takes to find the best angle. In post-processing, red honeycomb energy effects were added along the blade edges alongside swirling smoke, creating a fierce presence that matches the character unleashing his full might. When stepping into this role, I tried my best to channel the heavy burden of his past combined with an unyielding resolve to move forward; though no one can truly be as all-powerful as the Giant Hero Emiya in real life, I wanted the lens to convey that raw defiance and tenacity. A few amusing mishaps happened along the way—my wig snagged on a venue pillar once, and turning around with the blades nearly bumped a passing attendee. All in all, it was a grueling yet profoundly fulfilling experience, and seeing the final results made every bit of effort well worth it.
