[Judy cosplay] Daily Life of the Bunny Cop from Zootopia

Slipping into this dark blue pinafore dress, tying the black tie, putting on the police cap with bunny ears, and gripping the black toy gun instantly got me into character as Officer Judy. The light blue puff sleeves of the shirt soften the seriousness of the police uniform, making the overall look incredibly cute. The brown leather belt and pouch at the waist, along with the police badge and metal chain on my chest, add rich layers to the outfit, enhancing my immersion while roleplaying.

The shoot took place at the Pearl River Piano Dream Park in Guangzhou, which is a absolute hidden gem for photography in Guangzhou. The vibrant red and orange buildings in the park, along with a red retro car covered in "Rap & Dance" graffiti parked nearby, made for a perfect natural street backdrop. There was no need to seek out a theme park; these bright, real-world elements, when composed correctly, could cleverly substitute for scenes in Zootopia, capturing a vibrant, bright, and relaxed neighborhood vibe.

To capture the character's lively energy, the photographer Ah Shuai and I experimented a lot with poses on set. For instance, the kneeling shot while holding the gun required me to tighten my core to keep my upper body upright, while ensuring the skirt flared out naturally in layered folds. The shot standing on one leg while aiming was the ultimate test of balance—I had to hold the gun, raise my hand to steady the cap, and naturally swing my other arm to maintain an elegant silhouette. Wearing the black knee-high socks and modified uniform leather shoes beautifully elongated my legs in the frame, echoing the character's light-footed and fast-running nature.

I especially love the photo of me sitting on the red wheel. Holding my cap while looking into the distance turned a static sitting pose into a cozy, travel-like moment. Meanwhile, the close-ups with the orange carrot and black notebook were meant to capture the daily office and investigative work of a police officer. The carrot, her signature prop, is absolutely adorable; pretending to take a bite or jot down notes helped me relax my body and make more vivid expressions. The sunlight that day was fantastic, and the photographer used the natural light to keep the red and blue tones clean, without over-saturation or noise.

Crouching by the orange wall or in front of the railings, the light filtered beautifully through the architectural gaps, creating a lovely play of light and shadow that felt much softer than direct flash. Because we wanted to catch the golden hour, the pace of the shoot was quite fast. After every few shots, we had to quickly adjust the folds of the skirt and tuck away messy hair, but seeing how atmospheric the final photos turned out, all the effort was totally worth it.

This shoot was not only a fun experience of playing a Bunny Cop, but also a real breakthrough for me. From the double-ponytail hairstyle to the precise placement of the bag and badges, we paid attention to every little detail of the Cosplay outfit to capture her earnest yet adorable nature. The visual contrast between the red retro car and the deep blue police uniform, combined with Guangzhou's beautiful weather, gave this Judy cosplay shoot a wonderful sense of storytelling. Whether it was the playful gestures or the focused "crime-solving" look, everything was beautifully captured. Wearing the costume in such a setting naturally made me stand taller and slip into the character's shoes.
