I spent the entire day in this Judy cosplay outfit at the Grandview Rainforest Ecological Botanical Garden, and the yield of great shots was remarkably high. For costume and prop preparation, the fur texture of the bunny ears was crucial; I opted for large-volume gray fur rabbit ears so they would look more three-dimensional against the floral wall backdrop. The wig was styled into silver-gray twin braids, making it instantly recognizable in close-ups or side profiles. The core palette consisted of a blue shirt and black suspender pants, paired with a black utility belt pouch, a carrot prop, and the police badge. For makeup, I enhanced the eye contours—since certain indoor areas were dimly lit, slightly intensifying the eyeliner and eyeshadow helped boost facial definition.
The shoot primarily relied on the botanical garden's ambient indoor lighting and scenery for this rainforest photography session. The first series focused on the flower wall, where the photographer found a side-backlit angle to soften my facial features while preserving the textured layers of the backdrop. The second series utilized the pools and reptile exhibit; even through the glass, we managed to capture a natural sense of interaction. In particular, my friend in the white T-shirt standing beside me added great balance, establishing a clear focal hierarchy so the frame wouldn't feel empty.
There are several interactive elements inside Grandview Rainforest, such as a pink floral display that looks exceptionally photogenic alongside the green moss. Additionally, bright red feather ornaments and little bee figurines worked nicely directly as foreground elements. During shooting, we also captured some animals: starting with koi fish in the pond, followed by lizards and tortoises—these real-life fauna elements genuinely added fun to the shoot. Though the outfit was a bit thick, the indoor temperature remained quite comfortable. The setting made an ideal backdrop, and the vibrant vibe of the Grandview Super Anime Carnival enriched the variety of our shots. The venue featured numerous anime-themed setups, which harmonized well with Judy's animal characteristics.
Most of my energy went into adjusting poses—flashing peace signs, interacting with the flower wall, or snapping photos with visitors in overalls—keeping the overall mood very relaxed. The entire schedule was tightly arranged, and once the lighting aligned with the backgrounds, the final photos turned out just as envisioned. The botanical garden's landscaping incorporates lots of driftwood and stones; this rugged texture beautifully set off the delicacy of the wig and costume. The tortoises, in particular, had distinct shell patterns that created wonderful blurred foreground bokeh. Between takes, I checked out the surrounding flora installations; the large floral wall especially offered rich, saturated colors that effortlessly produced stunning shots. While we had to watch out for glass reflections, the lighting around the lizard enclosures was fortunately quite soft. All in all, this shoot at Grandview Rainforest Ecological Botanical Garden ensured strong visual fidelity for the character, yielding many high-texture images within a contained space. After finishing the set, I spent some time watching the turtles in Grandview Rainforest—it definitely feels like a great place to bring kids for fun.
