Today's set of Xishi Wandering Dragon Violet Splendor cosplay photoshoot centers on how to translate the dragon elements on the costume and the lively agility of a wandering dragon playing in the water into concrete body language. Before shooting, I purposely studied the layers of the costume. This outfit uses purple and blue as its main color tones; the upper body is a tight corset design, the neckline is a silver Chinese mandarin collar, and hanging in front of the chest is a golden crescent-shaped accessory with light blue tassels. The lower body is a multi-layered spliced short skirt, with fish-scale textures on the inner layer and a white semi-transparent mesh draped on the outer layer.

To echo the dragon theme, I paired it with a pair of golden coral-shaped dragon horn hair accessories, and prepared a pink lotus as a prop. The wig also chose a highly saturated purple long straight hair, with bangs trimmed slightly thicker to better modify the face shape.

On the day of the shoot, it was sunny, and I deliberately found a grey concrete wall where strong light shone in obliquely. This rugged background formed a great contrast with the lightness of the costume. Light passed through the window and hit the sheer sleeves, clearly showing the golden thread reflections and translucent feel on the fabric.

Regarding poses, I focused on designing several sets of exclusive actions for the little purple dragon. The first group is hand seals. Because Xishi has a mechanism of pulling enemies in her skill set, gestures are very important. I made my fingers slightly bent, wrists suspended, and fingers lightly touching or making a grasping motion in the empty air. You shouldn't grip too tightly, but instead present a flexible sense of spell-casting. At the same time, the gaze needs to coordinate with the gesture, looking toward the direction of the fingertips.

The second group is lifting the lotus. The lotus is pink and the prop is quite large; if held straight up, it will look very rigid. I placed the lotus in front of the chest or waist position, gently supporting the bottom of the petals with both hands. At this time, the shoulders should be relaxed, slightly dropping the shoulders to make the neck line look slender. I would tilt my head slightly or look down at the flower, creating an ethereal yet slightly compassionate atmosphere.

The third group is sitting posture. When wearing a short skirt, sitting posture really tests body shape. I would sit sideways on a chair with my legs crossed, using the outer layer of white mesh skirt hem to naturally drape and cover the edge of the thighs, revealing only the calves and part of the thighs. This showcases the leg lines while maintaining the dignified feel of a Xianxia character. The upper body would lean back slightly, with one hand propped behind and the other holding the lotus, which can well showcase the waist curve and the accessories on the chest.

In expression management, the purple hair and golden dragon horns already have strong visual impact, so facial expressions don't need to be too exaggerated. A slightly vacant gaze, paired with a slight upturn of the corners of the mouth, or occasionally closing eyes to feel the light and shadow, can showcase that worldly-transcending ethereal vibe. When the photographer is capturing candidly, I will slightly tense my core to keep my body upright and straight.

For the post-processing of this set of pictures, I tried to retain the real texture of the skin and the details of the costume, only slightly adjusting the saturation of purple and blue to make the overall color tone lean more towards a cold feeling. The texture of the mesh skirt and the cutting sense of light and shadow are what attract me most in this set of pictures. The whole process from matching to posing was a continuous attempt at how to use the body to get closer to this character, to feel her agile yet powerful beauty. I hope these action details can give some reference to friends who like to portray this kind of Xianxia roles, paying more attention to how the material of the clothing itself performs under light, and keeping the actions as stretched and relaxed as possible.
