I've finally sorted out this set of Hsin cosplay Selfie shots! The most meticulous effort during the shoot went directly into the eye makeup. To embody Hsin's alluring yet aloof aura from Wuthering Waves, I chose striking red colored contacts and blended generous washes of reddish-brown eyeshadow along the lower lids and outer corners. Paired with a red forehead bindi mark, the whole face took on a mystical, foxy charm. The beauty mark on my cheek served as a delicate accent, lending extra realism. For the complexion, I preserved a porcelain cool-toned finish which, set against the red eye makeup, pushed high contrast and made facial features pop sharply even in dim indoor ambient light.
The wig features a pure White hair base fading into subtle grey-black tips, cut with layered texture. To ensure the strands looked fluffy and voluminous, I used ample amounts of styling wax and hairspray, accented with plush white Fox ears adorned with golden metallic charms. Fastening the ears required constant fine-tuning to keep them symmetrical without flattening the wig's crown volume. Tassel forehead ornaments and star-shaped clips on both sides shimmered with the light, elevating the overall delicacy of the headpiece. Thinning out and setting this wig took considerable effort—especially the sidelocks framing the cheeks, which had to be finger-styled strand by strand to drape naturally and sculpt the face contour.
Wardrobe-wise, the monochrome deep-V top was layered beneath a red outer garment, with clear shoulder straps tucked carefully along the seams. A red flame tattoo decal across the chest echoed the four-pointed star necklace, while the white faux-fur cuff on the right arm mirrored the furry Fox ears, enriching the tactile plush textures. Dark red polish coated my nails, and my left hand curled slightly into a claw to mimic vulpine mannerisms. The outfit is tailored snug to the body; before shooting, I readjusted the strap tension and neckline drape to ensure the deep-V plunge fell smoothly and comfortably on camera.
The entire shoot was completed indoors. Given the casual home background, I aimed the primary light directly at my face, using cool-toned key illumination and soft shadows to carve out dimensional facial contours. While taking selfies, lens height is critical: keeping the angle slightly high or eye-level sharpens the jawline and cheek structure. The plunging neckline and collarbone tattoo delivered dramatic visual tension and allure. In channeling Hsin, I focused on conveying a dangerous, captivating presence through eye contact—slightly parted lips and a direct, unblinking red-eyed gaze reinforced an immersive connection with the viewer. Because a handheld phone screen makes it difficult to anchor sightlines accurately, I mounted the phone onto a tripod stand, snapping frames with a Bluetooth remote while running through the character's persona and continuously tweaking wrist angles and chin tilt.
Every layer of this ensemble—from hair clips and earrings to chest tattoo art—had to align faithfully with the character lore. Though shot at home with simple gear and no elaborate backdrop, I aimed to fully embody Hsin's magnetic essence through makeup and posture. After testing diverse frontal and profile angles, this final crop resting just above the shoulders struck the ideal balance—capturing the Fox ears, intricate facial styling, and the upper chest garment in harmony. Directing my own shoot and refining each nuance step by step was exhausting yet tremendously rewarding. Next, I plan to experiment with fresh lighting setups to showcase different facets of this look from new angles.
