This time, taking on the setting of going into a claw machine for a "field assignment," putting on this classic black-and-white maid outfit and wearing the iconic brown rabbit ears completely changed my state of mind. Actually, shooting inside a claw machine was much more cramped than imagined, especially in a somewhat mechanical-feeling scene like this, which was quite a test for limb extension. To fit the low upward-shooting camera position, I had to press my center of gravity down as much as possible while keeping my upper body upright. Holding onto the cables of the upper mechanical claw with both hands in the photos was actually finding a support point, which not only elongated the body lines but also brought out the atmospheric feeling of seemingly being truly trapped in a glass cabinet. The slightly bent angle of the arms was also tested repeatedly, just right to showcase the white cross decoration on the cuffs and the black lace wristbands, making the details more complete in front of the lens.
Regarding the wig, Amiya's brown short hair with that streak of blue-purple highlights needed styling treatments at both the roots and tips to maintain layering under strong light, preventing it from softening and collapsing in the stuffy internal environment and ruining the overall silhouette. For the eye makeup, lake-blue contact lenses were specially worn to restore the character's eye color, matching with highlights to appear exceptionally transparent under the machine's pink-yellow soft light. The eyeliner trend was also slightly upturned, trying to match Amiya's feeling of being steadfast yet somewhat clueless.
As for the costume, the maid outfit's skirt hem has many layers of ruffles. When sitting, special attention was needed to tidy up the petticoat slightly so that the fabric didn't all pile up together, which would not only look bulky but also lose the original layering of the outfit. The white knee-high tube socks paired with black platform shoes visually elongated the leg proportions and perfectly echoed the overall black-and-white color scheme. Because the shooting was mainly from a low angle, leg positioning was particularly important—bending the knees and placing them sideways as much as possible avoided exposure while making the leg lines look smoother and more natural.
Inside the machine with extreme color contrast, lighting and the glass reflection of the machine itself were also a hassle, requiring continuous adjustments of the shooting angles, utilizing the machine's built-in pink light source supplemented by external fill light to illuminate the face and legs. Combined with the metal mechanical claw and token props at the bottom, every detail was meant to create that quirky atmosphere that is both cute and carries a hint of mechanical coldness. Although they are just a few static photos, to stabilize the core and control expressions while maintaining specific poses in the narrow space during shooting was quite physically demanding. The experience of this field assignment can be said to be very special indeed.
