For this session, I experimented with a nurse-themed concept variation of 2B from NieR:Automata. The creative concept leaned toward an aloof, unapproachable nurse persona, so immense thought went into wardrobe selection. The centerpiece was a black patent leather minidress; patent leather naturally possesses a high-gloss reflective sheen that catches studio lighting with gorgeous brilliance. It features a sleek high-neck collar balanced by an expansive chest cutout, while branch-shaped cutaways trace across the torso and waist to break up the monochromatic black silhouette. A wide belt cinched tightly around the waist with a silver metal square buckle sharply defined proportions and accentuated the waistline. A black nurse cap stamped with a white medical cross paired atop the signature silver-white bob wig instantly established an aura of chilly detachment. For the lower half, sheer black Stockings paired with platform stiletto pumps dramatically elongated my legs.
To enrich the character narrative, I prepared props including a tubed stethoscope and medical shears. On set, props serve as crucial drivers of posture rather than passive accessories: holding the stethoscope with a slight head tilt casts an interrogative, scrutinizing gaze into the lens, while holding the scissors with spread fingers plays against the garment's black leather straps to build dynamic tension. 2B's canon battle dress already embodies Gothic black elegance; integrating clinical elements required balancing instant recognizability with nurse motifs. The opera-length black gloves streamlined my arm lines while imparting poise when handling props. Because the short bob exposed my neck entirely, the high-collar cutouts directed focal weight toward the collarbones and shoulders. The razor-thin platform stiletto heels shifted my center of gravity forward, forcing core engagement that tightened abdominal lines for the camera.
A folding screen with metallic framing and frosted panels served as our backdrop, allowing the crisp white wall and silver trims to make the dark silhouette pop cleanly. Photographing patent leather in a studio poses technical challenges: overly hard light generates blown-out glare, while light that is too soft dulls the glossy texture. The photographer carefully calibrated the lighting to render skin glow and vinyl sheen in harmony. The folding screen's vertical lines contrasted against the curves of the body, emphasizing natural lines without visual clutter. Static poses required continuous micro-adjustments that, combined with the heat retention of patent leather, made for quite an endurance workout.
Regarding posing, I maintained an upright, poised carriage, utilizing crossed legs and gentle leans against the screen to highlight body curves. The stilettos and corset waist, while physically constraining, fostered a subtle, heightened muscular tension on camera. Long gloves added fluidity to every open-hand gesture. The resulting frames preserve 2B's iconic cold aloofness while delivering the visual contrast of nurse aesthetics. Pure black-and-white tonal contrast endowed the clean compositions with premium sophistication, articulating vinyl reflections and stocking sheerness seamlessly within a refined grayscale palette.
