This Mythological Mystic Code of the Sun: Tamamo-no-Mae photoshoot took the longest preparation time and demanded the most energy among my recent works. In the setting of the Fate series, Tamamo no Mae embodies complex, contrasting attributes, and this Mythological Mystic Code of the Sun: Tamamo-no-Mae cleverly blends sacred holiness with enchanting allure.
The costume has countless intricate details to appreciate: while the white bloomers appear light and airy, when paired with the complex golden arm guards, the golden medallion with a green crystal on the chest, and the hefty animal ears and long fox tail, wearing the full ensemble actually carries considerable weight. In particular, the fluffy tail severely constrained seated poses and camera angles, requiring the photographer to constantly adjust positions to keep it looking natural without exposing mounts or seams.
Photographer Cheng Qi put immense thought into the set design. Gorgeous red backdrop paper, hanging beaded curtains, white faux fur on the floor, vintage books, sequin fabrics, and exquisite round fans layered together to richly enhance visual depth. This warm-toned, luxurious ambiance served as the perfect foil for the white-dominant costume, making the golden accents gleam brilliantly under the studio lights.
During shooting, we experimented with diverse poses. The side-sitting pose in the cover shot heavily tested curve control; shooting through the foreground beaded curtain added frame depth while making my gaze appear more vivid and expressive. Poses holding the round fan or flashing a peace sign showcased her cute charm, whereas lying on the rug with one hand covering my face leaned into a languid mood—aiming to capture her haughty yet occasionally relaxed little fox demeanor. For this Mythological Mystic Code of the Sun: Tamamo-no-Mae look, I deliberately refined my facial expression, striving to strike a harmonious balance between sacred shrine maiden aura and alluring fox spirit charm. In post-processing, we focused strictly on managing golden highlights and the overall warm-toned atmosphere to preserve clean, crisp details. The entire synergy with the photographer was seamless, and Cheng Qi captured many wonderful impromptu moments beyond our original storyboard. Successfully bringing my dream Tamamo no Mae cosplay to life brought immense fulfillment, marking a deeply meaningful journey along my Fate cosplay path.
