This Arturia Giallo look is finally ready to meet everyone. To recreate her temperament as faithfully as possible, a lot of thought went into everything from the costume to the set design—especially the texture of the crown of thorns and the pattern tailoring of the white coat, which went through several revisions before achieving a satisfying outcome.
Let's start with the soul prop of this styling. For the crown of thorns on my head, I specially chose an alloy material with a weathered finish; while it carries some weight, it holds a distinct 3D shape without looking floppy. To match her overall aesthetic, I deliberately dialed back saturated color blocks in the makeup, focusing on elongating the eyeliner and shaping the eyes. Paired with this straight long black wig, it creates a visual impression of aloof composure. The wig was trimmed with careful layering to keep it from feeling too heavy, ensuring a smooth drape without obscuring facial features.
In terms of clothing, this classic black-and-white palette really tests tailoring. The lapels and layering of the white top, alongside the black ribbon bow and gold badge at the neckline, needed crisp line work without feeling rigid. The two golden decorative stripes on the skirt served as the finishing touch, brightening the dark lower half. To match the skirt's length, I chose over-the-knee black stockings paired with glossy black heels in this Black stockings cosplay look—a classic pairing that elevates commanding presence while flattering leg lines, projecting an elegant posture when seated on the vintage European-style chair.
For this shoot, we specifically chose a dark Gothic style cosplay studio. The black marble floor complemented the black-and-white palette beautifully, while the European carved chair, metal birdcage, vintage candelabras, and faint red roses in the background harmonized seamlessly with the character's enigmatic aura. During the shoot, we explored various moods. For instance, in Photo 1, leaning against the chair back while holding the slender white baton prop conveyed an effortless, relaxed demeanor; in Photo 3, cradling the black metal birdcage in one hand with palm facing outward was intentionally designed to showcase the character's subtle sense of control; and in the final shot, holding up the uniquely shaped white circular instrument naturally brought forth a performer's focused intensity.
Actually, the studio lighting wasn't as soft as it appears in the final photos; setting up the key and rim lights to make the subject pop against a dark background took considerable time. When shooting close-ups of the stockings and heels, the photographer repeatedly adjusted reflectors to ensure the skin texture along the legs and the sheen of the black leather shoes were accurately captured. Without complex outdoor lighting shifts, studio lighting allowed better control over material textures, rendering fabric weaves and accessory finishes with crisp clarity.
Each photo in this series attempts to capture a distinct facet of the character's presence. Portraying this character deepened my appreciation for her personality and backstory, and I hope these visuals convey her unique composure and aloof detachment to you.
