The inspiration for this shoot came from the animatic video by teacher '咖啡瘾者' on Bilibili. The unique storyboarding and character tension touched me deeply, so I decided that even though I'm a lone-wolf coser, I had to recreate these frames with a strong shipping vibe.

Since I was on my own, everything from scene setup and makeup/styling adjustments to carrying the equipment to find angles was basically broken down into several plans to execute. Especially for this prop with skeleton ribs—in order to achieve a good glowing and semi-transparent effect, I adjusted the internal LED strips many times before and after. In extreme environments, lighting is often the soul of emotion. This time, I intentionally set up a high-saturation red light in the dim studio, adding some cool-colored halos on the side, attempting to recreate a wild visual effect with a touch of morbid dark Gothic style aesthetic.

For the character Wishadel, the handling of hair and headpiece details is the key. The light white-pink wig selected this time naturally has very rich textures and layers. To coordinate with the rendering of the red light, I did special styling on the hair ends and bangs so that the hair strands have an airy feel while supporting a messy, shattered look. In terms of clothing, the black leather base layer combined with straps and rivets makes the overall silhouette look tougher and more aggressive. For the makeup, I intentionally enhanced the depth of the eye makeup, giving the gaze a hint of emptiness and laziness, paired with a pale foundation to bring it closer to the character's own composure of drifting outside of reality.

The top-down overhead perspective in Photo 2 is one of my personal favorites from this shoot. Not only does it very intuitively showcase the layers of the outfit, but the black and red color-clashing combined with straps and ruffled over-the-knee socks also presents a bizarre sense of order in composition. Lying down is actually highly demanding for body control; to prevent the expression from looking stiff while maintaining a lazy vibe, one needs to repeatedly adjust the relative positions of the head and limbs. The transparent plastic film on the ground and the intersecting red and blue light and shadow perfectly captured the character's sense of isolation and that slightly psychedelic atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised myself when shooting it.

The hardest part to grasp during the shoot was actually the interaction with the prop. Because there was no partner, to simulate the facial expression and body movements when holding a glowing skeleton structure, I had to rely on imagination to establish an emotional connection with this object. In Photo 3, I tried to touch the core part of the skeleton with my hand, striving to capture the interactive tension of that exact split second. Doing Arknights cosplay through this single-player interpretation was actually setting a test for myself on how to fill the negative space left by the missing person in the frame.

Although it was hard work, when I saw the final light, shadow, and overall atmosphere of the cosplay photoshoot meet expectations, the sense of fulfillment from completing all roles by myself was incredibly strong. This is a very pure creative experience, and I hope everyone can feel the care I poured into the costumes, makeup, props, and lighting.
