This Momoka Hanyuu cosplay photoshoot from Arknights was completed during the National Day holiday. Paired with the track "Little Wish," the ambiance of the rooftop night view was pushed to the absolute maximum. The wind blew fiercely on the shoot day; to wait for the cityscape lights to blaze fully, we endured the chilly wind on the rooftop for quite a while, yet witnessing the interplay of light and shadow captured in the final frames made every moment worthwhile.
Regarding the outfit, this styling is rich in intricate details. The base is a blue tube top dress accented by a front zipper, transitioning into a red-and-blue striped pleated skirt hem. Over top sits a cropped white jacket, maintaining a crisp and refreshing overall color scheme. Multiple belts were layered across the waist—a wide red corset belt alongside a black tactical belt added tactical depth, while the ID card badge hanging at the side faithfully recreated the character's design. The wig features wavy twintails in a peachy-pink gradient adorned with red ribbon bows on either side, paired with long red gloves for a striking chromatic contrast.
What delighted me most was the lower-body styling. Chunky-soled white high-heeled tall boots with bright yellow treads and front red lacing visually elongated the leg contours significantly. To complement the night-scape, I also paired them with White stockings to enrich tonal layering; under backlighting, the rim light tracing the legs and boots looked gorgeous.
During shooting, the hardest element to master was the bouquet of luminous colorful optical fiber strands. To achieve that fluid, glowing light trail, we tested several lighting configurations, ultimately settling on a strong frontal key light to freeze the fiber hues while employing rear rim light to outline hair strands. Because capturing the sweeping trajectory of the dancing fibers was essential, I repeatedly leapt and spun to hunt for intensely dynamic compositions. The single-leg airborne leaps in Photo 1 and Photo 6 took countless takes—tightening the core and driving from the legs while preserving natural facial expressions proved physically demanding.
The staff prop was another major highlight. Because the staff is relatively long, standing statically in frame easily feels rigid; thus, I utilized crouching, turning, or half-kneeling stances to break visual monotony. In Photo 5, I knelt on one knee in the center of the scene, raising the glowing colorful fiber strands above my head while tilting my face slightly upward toward the lens. This pose demanded immense lumbar support, yet generated powerful dramatic tension.
The backdrop features dissolved city neon bokeh; shimmering cyan points of light alongside the cool-toned rooftop surface sculpted a remarkably sci-fi visual. Beyond recreating the costume and props, I adore the compelling contrast produced by placing 2D anime figures into authentic nighttime cityscapes. Eschewing heavy CGI post-processing, relying instead on real-time lighting interplay and the prop's own luminescence conjured an ambiance that shattered the fourth wall.
Listening to "Little Wish" in the dead of night carries a profound emotional resonance that resonated deeply with our shoot's theme. Taking advantage of the holiday to share this series brimming with stage presence and exploratory spirit—I sincerely hope you love it.
