[Ganyu Cosplay] Liyue Secretary in Genshin Impact, Classical Elegance by the Bluestone Bridge

Slipping into this Ganyu Cosplay outfit, standing on the bluestone bridge holding a pale pink oil-paper umbrella, the atmosphere for the Outdoor portrait shoot was instantly pushed to the max. The lighting in the garden during this time was soft; even without strong reflectors, the natural light falling onto the light blue wig and white pantyhose presented a wonderful texture.

For costume details this time, I paid special attention to the overall layered design. This short-style outfit in a blue and black main color palette, paired with detached long purple sleeves, looks solemn like a classical Liyue character while remaining lively. I spent a long time adjusting the chest pendant embellishments and collar details to ensure that even when exposing only the collarbone and a small neck-and-shoulder line during shooting, the overall visual center of gravity stayed balanced. The arm fabrics and gloves fitted snugly, remaining comfortable even when holding the oil-paper umbrella pose for extended periods.

Leg visuals are another highlight of this attire. White pantyhose beautifully softened skin tones, and the golden ring motif on the left leg appeared striking from side camera angles; combined with black high heels adorned with blue ribbon bows at the ankles, it elongated lower body proportions and gave my stance on the bridge a taller, slender look. I specifically asked the photographer to use a slightly low-angle perspective, preserving full carved stone bridge railing details while enhancing the character's elongated silhouette.

Makeup focused on clarity and translucency, enhancing eye contours to match the light blue-purple long hair and hairpieces, aiming to convey that air of being tempered by ages yet possessing a gentle, focused demeanor. Floral hair ornaments and black horn-like props were anchored securely, maintaining pristine styling even as occasional outdoor breezes blew by. The pink oil-paper umbrella in hand served as more than a prop—it acted like a softbox in frame; pink reflective light made facial lighting even and translucent, while bridging a warm-cold color transition and contrast between background emerald greenery and grey stone bridges.

Prior to the shoot, I reviewed the character's lore and personality traits, deliberately avoiding stiff standing postures. When standing on stone steps, I slightly relaxed my shoulders, letting my gaze linger on a calm, gentle point rather than staring intently at the camera or blanking out, conveying a warm and steadfast mood. The whole Outdoor portrait process went smoothly with seamless photography teamwork. The outfit's flowing ethereal quality and structure shone just right under light and shadow without bulky skirt bunching from large movements, capturing great states in every frozen moment.

Shooting outdoors in a Chinese garden surrounded by lush green foliage and natural stone formations poses a considerable color-coordination challenge. Vibrant green natural surroundings, combined with the character's dark blue, light purple, and metallic ornaments, could easily become visually cluttered; however, the grey-white bridge stones served as an excellent visual buffer, delivering a beautifully harmonious oriental fantasy feel. The original intent of this shoot was to use authentic outdoor settings to reveal the quiet, composed everyday side of this character beyond combat. The organic union of props, styling, and environment serves as the foundation of successful Cosplay photography. This is precisely why I love shooting on location: uncontrollable elements like wind, natural lighting, and tree shadows give photos a truly genuine vitality.
